Job summary

We are seeking an enthusiastic and well-motivated individual to work as a pathology storekeeper within the Laboratory Medicine department at York Hospital.

You will work as part of a team to provide an efficient and high quality stores service to support Laboratory Medicine.

The applicant should have a good standard of general education as well as excellent communication skills. Applicants should be able to demonstrate organisational skills, attention to detail and a basic knowledge of computers. Previous experience of working within a store's environment is desirable but not necessary as full training will be provided.

Main duties of the job

The role of Pathology storekeeper is essential for the laboratory to provide a safe and efficient service by performing a wide range of tasks to support Biomedical Scientists. The pathology storekeeper role involves:

Receiving deliveries of stock goods from commercial suppliers Distributing deliveries to the correct department Monitoring supplies and consumables and advise senior staff when approaching minimum levels. Deal politely with enquires from delivery personnel, hospital staff and Laboratory Medicine staff. Remove non-clinical and clinical waste from each department within Laboratory Medicine

Qualifications Essential

Educated to GCSE Level or equivalent. English at C or above - or equivalent qualification/demonstrable experience.

A good working knowledge of pathology laboratories. Previous experience of working in a busy store environment
