About this role

Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and committed Salaried GP to join the Lea Surgery GP Practice. The candidate would be required to work 4 sessions across two days per week (Thursday and Friday). The successful candidate will work autonomously to deliver an excellent standard of clinical care in accordance with a PMS contract, supporting a diverse practice population of 11,300 patients through various forms of communication, including telephone, e-consultations, and face-to-face clinics.

The core responsibilities of a salaried GP are wide and varied. As well as your regular duties there may be, on occasion, a requirement to carry out other tasks as the practice needs.

The Lea Surgery is a well-established training practice situated in Homerton, Hackney, 100 m from Homerton station and close to Homerton Hospital. We are a friendly and committed team of doctors, nurses, pharmacists, administrators, and other health professionals. We aim to streamline the administrative burden upon GPs, using skilled administrative support and new IT systems.

As an accredited training practice for GPs and pharmacists, we aim to foster a culture of professional and personal development by supporting clinical and non-clinical staff in their careers.

The delivery of highly effective medical care to the entitled populationThe provision of services commensurate with the PMS contractGeneric prescribing adhering to local and national guidanceEffective management of long-term conditionsProcessing of administration in a timely manner, including referrals, repeat prescription requests and other associated administrative tasksAs required, undertake telephone triage and duty doctor rolesMaintain accurate clinical records in conjunction with good practice, policy and guidanceWorking collaboratively, accepting an equal share of the practice workloadAdhere to best practice recommended through clinical guidelines and the audit processContribute to the successful implementation of continuous improvement and quality initiatives within the practiceAttend home visits when and if needed.Attend and contribute effectively to practice meetings as requiredContribute effective to the development and maintenance of the practice including; clinical governance, training, financial management and HREnsure compliance with the appraisal processPrepare and complete the revalidation processCommit to self-learning and instill an ethos of continuing professional development across the practice teamSupport the training of trainee doctors and professionals from all clinical disciplinesSupport the partners in achieving the strategic aims of the practice, making recommendations to enhance income and reduce expenditureAdhere to practice protocols and policiesEncourage collaborative working, liaising with all staff regularly, always promoting a culture of continuous improvement

In addition to the primary responsibilities, the salaried GP may be requested to:

Participate in practice audits as requested by the audit leadParticipate in local initiatives to enhance service delivery and patient careParticipate in the review of significant and near-miss events applying a structured approach i.e. root cause analysis (RCA)

Person Specification

Experience Essential

1. National Performers List Registration; 2. General Practitioner Register under article 10 of the General and Specialist Medical Practice Order 2003; 3. Not subject to suspension under section 41A of the Medical Act 1983; Clear DBS report; 4. Evidence of commitment to ongoing personal & professional development; 5. Eligible to independently practice in the United Kingdom.

Qualifications Essential

1. Fully Qualified GP eligible to work in General Practice in the NHS; 2. MBBS or equivalent medical degree
