Job summary
The Holbrook and Shotley Practice are looking to welcome a qualified dispenser into our busy dispensing practice to join us on a full-time basis. We can be really flexible and offer this position to two applicants on a part-time basis depending on your circumstances. Your hours will be worked across both our dispensaries at Holbrook and Shotley surgeries, ideally with additional hours as required to cover for annual leave and sickness. You must be able to work on a Monday, Thursday and Friday each week.
Main duties of the job
Process all relevant prescriptions and repeat prescriptions as authorised by GPs and prescribing nurses where appropriate, in accordance with the good practice principles of the Dispensing Services Quality Scheme; Ensure that all medicines and appliances dispensed are checked against the prescription and whenever there is doubt about the appropriateness of the item, or about the dose or labelling instructions, to check with the authorising doctor or duty doctor; Collect all due prescription charges and ensure that the patient declaration on the reverse of the FP10 is duly filled in and signed by the patient; Process hospital letters; Process dossette boxes; Manage ordering stock and stock control; Answer and deal with dispensary phone enquiries; Monitor patients exemption status; Sort and dispose of unwanted/returned medication; Any other duties to assist in the smooth day to day running of the dispensary and surgery as directed by the either the dispensary manager or practice manager.

Our practice team comprises ofthree GP partners, two salaried GPs, supported by a highly experienced team of nurses, dispensers, paramedics, and reception team.

Qualifications Essential
At least a Diploma Level 2/3 Dispensary or equivalent Pharmacy Services qualification;
Disclosure and Barring Service Check This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
