About this role

Job summary

The post holder will be working for Royal Free London Pharmacy, a wholly owned subsidiary of the RFL Group.The senior pharmacy technician provides pharmaceutical services in the outpatient pharmacy department ensuring efficient and high quality customer experience is maintained. As an Accuracy Checking Technician, you will be friendly and organised with a passion for providingexcellent patient experience

Main duties of the job

Prepare labels using the pharmacy computer system and correctly assemble prescriptions, ensuring each item is accurately dispensed and in the correct packaging, according to standard operating procedures (SOP).? Organise the timely supply of out of stock medication to patients, prioritise and delegate to other pharmacy team members when necessary.? Communicate any delays in supply to the appropriate person.? Counsel patients on the use of their dispensed medications, offering advice and answering any queries.? To provide information and advice to nursing and medical staff on all aspects of drug usage and availability.

Education & professional Qualifications Essential

Registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council BTEC in Pharmaceutical Sciences (NVQ Pharmacy Services Level 3) or equivalent Accredited checking pharmacy technician (ACPT) or willing to work towards

Educational supervisor or equivalent or will to work towards

Evidence of CPD which meet the requirements of the pharmacy regulator. Able to participate in late duty, weekend working and on bank holidays as required

Experience Essential

Proven experience as a qualified pharmacy technician including experience in a dispensary position Experience of accurately dispensing and counselling patients

Demonstrated good written and oral communication skills Ability to prioritise, plan and organise complex workload of self and others and to meet deadlines Ability to supervise and train others Excellent interpersonal skills Ability to work and integrate in a multidisciplinary forum Demonstrated initiative, particularly in relation to problem solving Demonstrated proven ability to counsel and give advice to patients/carers on medications Ability to communicate with patients and staff of all levels Ability to work alone and as part of a team Ability to work under pressure and handle several tasks at once Ability to manage difficult and ambiguous situations Understanding of clinical risk and clinical governance Computer literate (including word processing, email & use of internet.
