SALARIED GP REQUIRED

An exciting opportunity for a newly qualified GP with an interest in career progression to join our highly successful training practice. Salary negotiable dependent upon experience/ skillset. We are supportive of doctors developing areas of special interest within primary care. You will join a well-established, high achieving, innovative, paperless practice.

Our purpose built, modernised premises include an in-house, independent Pharmacy. Our supportive and dedicated team looks after 10,600 patients and consists of lead GP, Salaried Doctors, ANPs, Clinical Pharmacists, MSK practitioner, Paramedic, PNs, HCAs and admin support led by a skilful management team. Main duties of the job

Dealing with a wide range of health needs in a primary care setting, ensuring the highest standards of care for all.

Duties include patient consultations, home visits, repeat prescriptions and paperwork, correspondence

Make professional, autonomous decisions

Assess the health care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems

Screen patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness

Develop care plans in conjunction with patients

Provide counselling & health education

Prescribe in accordance with practice prescribing formulary/generically when clinically appropriate

Maintain an awareness of and compliance with all relevant practice policies/guidelines

A commitment to learning and audit to ensure evidence-based best practice, contributing to audit & clinical standard setting within the practice

Attend training, events, meetings organised by the practice, other agencies

Job description Job responsibilities

Summary of duties:

The post-holder will manage a caseload and deal with a wide range of health needs in a primary care setting, ensuring the highest standards of care for all registered and temporary patients.

Clinical Responsibilities

Provide NHS personal medical services to registered patients, temporary residents and patients who present requiring immediate and necessary treatment

In accordance with the practice timetable, make yourself available to undertake a variety of duties including surgery consultations, telephone consultations and queries, visiting patients at home, checking and signing repeat prescriptions and dealing with queries, paperwork and correspondence in a timely fashion

Making professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self-referred or referred from other health care workers within the organisation

Assessing the health care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems

Screening patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness where appropriate

In consultation with patients and in line with current practice disease management protocols, developing care plans for health

Providing counselling and health education where appropriate

Admitting or discharging patients to and from the caseload and referring to other care providers as appropriate

Recording clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards

Collecting data for audit purposes

Compiling and issuing computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions (avoiding hand-written prescriptions whenever possible)

Prescribing in accordance with the practice prescribing formulary (or generically) whenever this is clinically appropriate

In general, the post-holder will be expected to undertake all the normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care.

Awareness of and compliance with all relevant practice policies/guidelines, eg prescribing, confidentiality, data protection, health and safety

A commitment to life-long learning and audit to ensure evidence-based best practice

Contributing to evaluation & audit and clinical standard setting within the organisation

Contributing to the development of computer-based patient records

Contributing to the summarising of patient records and Read-Coding patient data

Attending training and events organised by the practice or other agencies, where appropriate.

Attending primary health care team meetings and other meetings as required by the surgery.

Undertake any other duties that are considered to be appropriate to the post.

Person Specification

Qualifications Essential

Successful completion of GP Vocational Training Scheme Certificate of Prescribed Experience or a Certificate of Equivalent Experience issued by the PMETB Full current GMC Registration

Desirable

MRCGP FP Cert An understanding of personal development plans and portfolio based learning

Skills and Abilities Essential

Negotiating and influencing skills Experience of audit as a change management tool

Desirable

Experience of clinical IT systems, preferably EMIS, including data input and retrieval skills Effective use of Microsoft Outlook and Word Experience of leading and developing health care services at a local level Ability to identify and lead change

Knowledge Essential

An understanding of NHS agenda An understanding of issues surrounding clinical governance

Desirable

Understanding of change management process including needs assessment

Other Essential

Adequate medical indemnity cover Commitment to the provision of high quality services Commitment to continuous professional development Able to travel to work location and patients homes Able to pass a pre-employment medical Able to obtain satisfactory DBS clearance No GMC or any other restrictions on practice
