ROLE Healthcare Assistant or Nurse Associate with Primary Care Experience
HOURS PER WEEK: 25-35 (Flexibility is requested to help cover sickness and annual leave)
RATE OF PAY Competitive salary dependant on experience
REPORTS TO Nurse manager
We are looking for an experienced Health Care Assistant or Nurse Associate to work alongside our established team to provide excellent care to our patient population. You will assist medical personnel in the care of practice patients, including treatment, preventative care, screening and patient education. You will act as a focal point of communication between patients, doctors, nurses and other members of the primary care team.
The role is for 25-35 hours a week. However, flexibility is essential as you will also be requested to cover for holidays and sickness. Previous experience as a Health Care Assistant or Nurse Associate in General Practice or another busy clinical environment is essential.
Main duties of the job
New patient registration checks, including completing any necessary paperwork and making any necessary claims to the Health Authority and referrals within the Practice
NHS Health Checks,ECG, BP monitoring, Urinalysis, Phlebotomy, Long Term Condition reviews. Assisting with flu, pneumococcal and other vaccination programmes as required
Provide lifestyle advice to patients, making any necessary referrals within the practice
Weight monitoring
Performing spirometry
Ensure clinical waste collection runs smoothy, reporting any problems to the Nurse Manager.
Ensure sharps bins are ready for collection
Restocking/maintaining equipment
Restocking of clinical areas and consulting rooms
Participate in the administrative and professional responsibilities of the Practice team
Ensure the clinical computer system is kept up to date with accurate details recorded
Ensure accurate completion of all necessary documentation associated with patient health care and registration with the Practice
Ensure collection and maintenance of statistical information required for regular and ad hoc reports
Attend and participate in Practice meetings as required
Assist in formulation of Practice philosophy, strategy and policy
To create and send recall letters for clinics
To assist in seasonal and special projects as requested e.g. flu campaign
Ordering and display Health Promotion materials
Ensure that phlebotomy requests are accurate in advance of each consulting session

Job Summary
To assist medical personnel in the care of Practice patients to include treatment, preventative care, screening and patient education. The post will also include some administrative duties.
A uniform must be worn at all times, which will be supplied by the Practice (tunic).

Monitor effectiveness of the system and report any problems or variations to the Senior Receptionist
Any other delegated duties considered appropriate to the post

Experience Essential
