Main duties of the job

To support the delivery of Dorset County Hospital (DCH) Charity's fundraising strategy, focussing on implementing diverse income streams including individual giving, community fundraising, challenge events, staff fundraising, legacy giving and corporate partnerships, to maximise income generation and support the aims and objectives of the Charity. The role will help raise awareness of DCH Charity, inspire donations, and strengthen supporter engagement through exceptional stewardship and relationship-building. The postholder will be required to provide support and backfill to other roles in the team to cover sickness and holiday, as and when required. Training for this will be provided.

The Fundraising Coordinator is an integral part of the DCH Charity team. The post-holder will have proven experience in fundraising or directly transferable skills and considerable energy and enthusiasm that will inspire patients, visitors, staff and the local community to choose to support DCH Charity.

The post-holder will contribute to the successful performance of DCH Charity by helping to plan and deliver creative fundraising campaigns, events and initiatives to develop income streams and create a positive supporter experience to engage new supporters and retain current supporters. The post is an important link between the DCH Charity, DCH staff and the local community, ensuring relationships are formed with a wide range of stakeholders with diverse interests for supporting DCH Charity.

Job description Job responsibilities

Fundraising

To help implement the Charitys fundraising plan, with the support of the Fundraising Manager and Head of Fundraising and Communications, to include individual giving, community fundraising, challenge events, staff fundraising, legacy giving and corporate giving. Working toward agreed financial targets to maximise fundraising income for the Charity. To help develop and deliver community fundraising stewardship programme, ensuring a positive, donor-focused approach for the Charitys supporters. To promote challenge fundraising opportunities, such as Charity places at the Jurassic Coast Challenge, the Run Bournemouth and managing the stewardship process for fundraisers. To encourage and support fundraising by DCH staff and volunteers; to give support and advice where needed; and to ensure funds are collected and paid into the Charity in an appropriate and timely manner. To help identify and develop new sources of income for the Charity. Recruit, support and retain a range of volunteer fundraising groups and encourage volunteer-led fundraising activities internally and externally. Where necessary, ensure the safe collection, transportation and depositing of donations made on or off site in accordance with standard procedures. Supporter engagement and care

Develop a pipeline and portfolio of internal and external supporters. Provide a positive and engaging supporter experience that champions the values of the Charity, from initial contact to recognition and gratitude, managing the multilevel touch points at regular intervals. Arrange cheque presentations and photo calls in conjunction with donors or fundraisers and the relevant benefiting departments across the Trust; working with the charitys Communications Officer. Update the supporter database, ensuring compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation and Data Protection Act 2018. Communication and engagement

Develop and maintain a highly respected and connected profile as a Fundraiser in DCH and in the wider community. Travel to and represent the Charity at external events, to support community fundraisers or give talks/presentations in order to raise the profile of the Charity and attract new supporters. To increase the profile of the Charity by recognising the achievements of community fundraisers, and to demonstrate the impact of charitable spending, within the local community and across the hospital. Raise awareness of the Charitys events, fundraising, and appeals; contributing to the Charitys financial targets. Work collaboratively with the charitys Communications Officer to provide rich and motivating day-to-day content for use on the Charity communication digital platforms. Work with the Charity team, to design and deliver social media posts that will drive Charity increase awareness and support. Promoting staff advocacy and engagement

Work with the Charity team to implement an effective internal communications programme to engage staff and keep them up to date with the Charitys activities and opportunities to get involved. Support and liaise with the DCH Charity Champions on wards and departments. Promote charitable funding opportunities to staff, ensuring the impact of charitable donations is promoted widely internally and externally. Charity Governance

To contribute to written reports on fundraising and communications activity in association with the Fundraising Manager and Head of Fundraising and Communications, for the Charity Committee. To follow agreed procedures for cash handling, banking, donor acknowledgement and receipts, in accordance with best practice and legislation, and to advise staff and volunteers on these procedures. To ensure all activity conducted on behalf of the Charity meets all legal and ethical standards, meeting the Fundraising Regulators Code of Fundraising Practice, GDPR regulations, and DCHs own finance and governance standards. Ensure the Charity is adhering to finance policies, procedures and processes, and implement any changes where appropriate as advised by the Head of Fundraising & Communications. To build positive relationships with colleagues across other NHS charities, NHS Charities Together and other potential donor bodies, and to exchange knowledge and experience for mutual benefit. To work independently to achieve set targets and objectives, assessing the best way to achieve these goals, with guidance and support from the Fundraising Manager and Head of Fundraising and Communications. To support and supervise the activities of volunteer fundraisers, and to provide guidance on charity fundraising policy and procedure. Other duties

Keep abreast of Charity and fundraising law and developments, undertaking appropriate training and ensuring compliance with the Charities Act and the Fundraising Regulators Code of Practice; with advice from the Head of Fundraising & Communications. Actively participate in training and development to further enhance your role. General requirements

Adhere at all times to the Charitys policies and procedures. Ensure the effective and efficient use of the Charity resources. Ensure that all duties are carried out to the highest possible standard. Be aware of the responsibilities with regard to health and safety, especially with regard to fundraising events. Ensure that all data is handled in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation and Data Protection Act 2018. Respect the customs, values and beliefs of supporters, staff, patients, carers and their families. To increase income; helping facilitate the Charitys fundraising plans for current and new income sources including donations, fundraising, online donations, regular giving, in memoriam giving, corporate support and legacies. The post-holder will be required to provide support and backfill to other roles in the team to cover sickness and holiday, as and when required. Training will be provided. Person Specification

EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS & TRAINING Essential

HNC / HND / Level 4 vocational qualification. Extensive, relevant fundraising experience or transferable skills/experience. UK Driving Licence.

Desirable

Member of the Chartered Institute of Fundraising.

KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE Essential

Level 4 vocational qualification or equivalent experience. Proven experience in fundraising, charity development, donor relations or directly transferable experience. Understanding of fundraising principles, ethics, and best practices (e.g. GDPR, Gift Aid, stewardship). Experience managing campaigns, appeals, or events to achieve income targets. Knowledge of corporate partnerships and community fundraising. Familiarity with CRM systems and donor databases for tracking and reporting. Experience producing social media content. Awareness of the local community, charitable sector, and potential supporter network.s IT skills and systems knowledge including Microsoft Office, CRM/fundraising data..bases.

Desirable

Knowledge of website/intranet content management systems and ability to manage website content. Good knowledge of the wider health and social care community, with a good understanding of current NHS issues and NHS.

SKILLS & ABILITIES Essential

Excellent written and verbal communication skills for engaging donors and stakeholders Confident speaking in public to introduce an event, accept a donation or a chair a meeting The ability to articulate information in a persuasive, engaging, and confident manner to a wide range of audiences, including potential donors, volunteers and community groups. Previous experience of working in the NHS, healthcare sector or related Charity.
