We are a patient centred GP surgery committed to providing accessible, high-quality care in a rural, Dispensing Practice, currently serving 5,400 patients. We place a strong emphasis on continuity of care and seeing patients in person wherever clinically appropriate. Our practice is accredited by the GP Deanery of Kent, Surrey and Sussex as a suitable practice for doctors in training. We regularly have GP trainees, Foundation Years doctors and medical students working with us at the surgery.
Main duties of the job
Deliver a mix of routine and urgent GP consultation (face to face and telephone as clinically appropriate) Manage a broad range of acute and chronic conditions Provide appropriate prescribing, investigation and referrals Ensure safe and effective clinical decision-making and safety-netting Maintain accurate and timely clinical records Work collaboratively within the multidisciplinary team Participate in clinical meetings and practice development activities

Job description Job responsibilities
Provide medical services for the practice population to a high standard, including day-to-day activities such as surgery consultations, telephone advice, telephone consultations and home visits and appropriate administration to ensure accurate records, patient continuity and quality of careComply with the requirements of the practices General Medical Services/Personal Medical Services (GMS/PMS) (17c) contract, Enhanced Services contracts educational/training delivery contracts and private contractsAdhere to the principles of good medical practiceMotivated and patient focusedProvide evidence based medical care
Clinical Duties
Provide comprehensive primary care consultations for patients of all ages
Assess, diagnose, treat, and manage acute and chronic medical conditions
Conduct face-to-face, telephone, video, and home visit consultations as required
Prescribe medications safely and appropriately in accordance with current guidelines
Review pathology and diagnostic test results and take appropriate action
Manage patients with long-term conditions and complex healthcare needs
Refer patients appropriately to secondary care and community services
Maintain accurate, contemporaneous, and legally compliant medical records.
Participate in safeguarding procedures for children and vulnerable adults Support health promotion, disease prevention, and screening programmes Undertake duties such as prescription signing, prescribing reviews, telephone advice, duty doctor, in accordance with the rota
Undertake clinics, post-natal checks, child developmental checks as agreed or required
Manage long-term conditions in accordance with practice and national clinical guidelines
Prescribe generically and in accordance with the practice formulary
Provide appropriate health promotion advice to all patients
Ensure good clinical governance is part of patient care and other practice activities
Adhere to practice guidelines, policies and procedures
Practice evidence-based medicine
Take ongoing responsibility for patients with difficult and complex problems including consistent follow-through
Administrative ResponsibilitiesComplete clinical correspondence, referrals, reports, and other documentation within agreed timescales
Review laboratory results, hospital letters, and other incoming clinical information
Participate in practice meetings and multidisciplinary team discussions
Contribute to practice audits, quality improvement projects, and service development initiatives
Work in accordance with GMC standards, NHS policies, and practice protocolsMaintain professional registration, appraisal, and revalidation requirementsParticipate in significant event reviews and clinical governance activitiesSupport the achievement of Quality and Outcomes Framework (QOF) and other contractual requirements where applicable
Teaching and Development
Maintain continuing professional development (CPD) and participate in mandatory training
Support the education of GP trainees, medical students, or other healthcare professionals where appropriate
Contribute to a positive learning culture within the practice
A salaried GP will:Prepare for and complete the annual external appraisal system
Prepare for and complete the revalidation process
Undertake training that meets personal, statutory and practice learning needs including recording of learning, reflection, complaints etc
Participate in and contribute to learning activities such as significant event reviews, clinical audit, protected learning time, video analysis of consultations
Contribute to delivering teaching for registrars and doctors in training in the practice and other health professionals in training
Completing all mandatory training in year as directed by the Practice
Person Specification
Qualifications Essential
GMC registered general practitioner Inclusion on the NHS performance List Good clinical and consultation skills Ability to manage a varied workload independently Commitment to high-quality, patient-focused care Good communication and teamwork skills
Desirable
Willingness to be the Duty Dr for one session a week Previous experience in UK general practice Interest in developing clinical areas within the practice Support with the Education of trainees and colleagues Able to undertake up to one home visit each week
