An exciting opportunity has been created to change the lives of children and families in Powys. Regional Integrated Fund monies have been secured, initially until 31st March 2027, to create a Principal Psychologist role to support the development of Early Years and early intervention provision within Powys CAMHS and the newly established Powys Single Point of Access for Children's Emotional Health & Wellbeing (SPACE).
The successful candidate will bring significant knowledge and experience to help develop attachment-aware, trauma-informed, and evidence-based provision across multi-agency settings aimed at the promotion of emotional health and wellbeing, and early identification and intervention. We are looking for candidates with a passion for working with children, young people, families, and the trusted adults in their lives, as well as significant experience of providing specialist training, supervision, consultation and early intervention.
Our Psychology and Psychological Therapies Team places a strong emphasis on staff wellbeing and supporting personal and professional development.
Main duties of the job
Provide a highly specialised Psychology Service to children, young people and families within Powys CAMHS Primary MentalHealth Service. Developing, delivering and/or overseeing the delivery of briefpsychological interventions, including brief psychological groups. Contributing to psychological formulations and intervention plans for families Providing psychological supervision and consultation, training, advice and support to professionals involved in supporting the emotional health andwellbeing of children and young people. Support the establishment of the new Powys SPACE team, aimed to provide a single point of access for emotional healthand wellbeing support to children, young people and families in Powys. Support the establishment of service processes andpathways through training, consultation, supervision, and guidance to the leadership team. Help identify gaps in current service provision in Powys for the emotional health and wellbeing needs of children, young people and families, with a particular focus on Early Years and early intervention. Provide clinical placements and supervision for Doctoral level trainee Clinical Psychologists etc. Develop and deliver training, supervision and consultation to other professionals supporting children and young people'semotional health and wellbeing. Utilise highly specialised research skills for audit, policy and service development, and research.

Qualifications & Knowledge Essential
Registration with the HCPC as a Practitioner Psychologist Knowledge of relevant legislation and its implications for both clinical practice and professional management
Desirable
Well-developed knowledge of the theory and practice of specialised psychological therapies in specific Early Years and early intervention provision across multi-agency settings
Experience Essential
Specialised psychological assessment and treatment of a range of clients across a wide range of care settings Providing teaching, training and/or professional and clinical supervision
