Job summary

We have an exciting opportunity for a salaried GP to join our friendly, well organised, semi rural GMS practice in the Staffordshire Moorlands for 4 sessions per week.

We are a long established practice with a very enthusiastic, highly trained and efficient team who are all committed to providing the best possible care for our patients. We are situated in a purpose built Primary Care Centre, with private parking available and a list size of 10,800 patients.

We pride ourselves on providing high-quality care in a modern setting with a strong emphasis on continuity, innovation, and team wellbeing.

We are part of the high achieving and successful Leek and Biddulph Primary Care Network.

Main duties of the job

Provision of General Medical Services, Enhanced Services and work with the Primary Care Network, in accordance with the GMS and other practice contracts.

A working day will include a variety of duties, including face to face consultations, telephone consultations and queries, home visits, checking and signing repeat prescriptions and dealing with queries, paperwork and correspondence in a timely fashion. Provide high quality patient care, excellent communication with patients and carers, effectively manage own time, workload and resources.

Our current clinical team consists of 6 GP Partners, 2 salaried GPs, 2 Advanced Nurse Practitioners, 1 Diabetic Nurse Specialist, 4 Practice Nurses, 1 Practice Matron, 1 Clinical Pharmacist, 2 Health Care Support Workers, 1 Paramedic Practitioner (PCN team consists of Occupational Therapists, Pharmacists and Pharmacy technicians, Mental Health Workers, First Contact Physiotherapists, Social Prescribers and Care Co-ordinators)Teaching/Training practice with foundation doctors and GP traineesKeele Research practiceHigh QOF/QIF achievementCQC rating as "Good"Full range of administrative support staff including clinical co-ordinatorsEMIS Web clinical system and Docman 10 (training will be provided if needed)6 Weeks annual leave plus 1 week study leaveLimited home visiting required

Job description Job responsibilities

The following are the core responsibilities of the Salaried GP. There may be, on occasion, a requirement to carry out other tasks; this will be dependent upon factors such as workload and staffing levels:

The delivery of highly effective medical care to the entitled populationThe provision of services commensurate with the primary care contractGeneric prescribing adhering to local and national guidanceEffective management of long-term conditionsProcessing of administration in a timely manner, including referrals, repeat prescription requests and other associated administrative tasksOn a rotational basis, undertake duty doctor rolesMaintain accurate clinical records in conjunction with good practice, policy and guidanceWork collaboratively, accepting an equal share of the practice workloadAdhere to best practice recommended through clinical guidelines and the audit processContribute to the successful implementation of continuous improvement and quality initiatives within the practiceAccept delegated responsibility for a specific area (or areas) of the QOFAttend and contribute effectively to practice meetings as requiredContribute effectively to the development and maintenance of the practice including clinical governance and training.Ensure compliance with the appraisal process.Prepare and complete the revalidation process.Commit to self-learning and instil an ethos of continuing professional development across the practice teamSupport the training of medical students from all clinical disciplines.Support the partners in achieving the strategic aims of the practice, making recommendations to enhance income and reduce expenditureReview and always adhere to practice protocols and policies.Encourage collaborative working, liaising with all staff regularly, always promoting a culture of continuous improvement

Qualifications Essential

Qualified General Practitioner with live GMC Registration

Experience Essential

Experience of working in a primary care environment
