Pennine Care NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a dynamic MHST Team Manager (Band 7) to lead our Mental Health Support Teams for Education settings. This senior role offers the chance to manage, supervise, and inspire a skilled team making a real impact on young lives.
As Team Manager, you'll oversee high-quality, evidence-based care, support staff development, and drive service improvement. You'll collaborate with education providers, local authorities, and partners to ensure integrated, effective support for children, young people, and their families.
The national ambition is for MHSTs to be available in all education settings by the end of 2029. Our team continues to grow each year to support this vision, and this role offers an exciting opportunity to help bring it to life.
Main duties of the job
As MHST Team Manager, you'll lead and inspire a multidisciplinary team delivering high-quality, evidence-based mental health support to children and young people. You'll oversee clinical assessments, risk management, and care planning, ensuring robust record-keeping and data quality. You'll manage caseloads, support with the coordination of referrals, and facilitate regular team meetings. Through clinical and line management supervision, you'll drive staff development, recruitment, and performance. Working in partnership with schools, local authorities, and community stakeholders, you'll contribute to service improvement, audits, and outcome monitoring. You'll also support national and local priorities aligned with Trust objectives, champion safeguarding and equality, and promote continuous professional development, helping shape the future of MHST services.
Since mobilisation began in September 2022, the team has operated using a hybrid working model. The team's base is Bury CAMHS, Fairfield Hospital, Rochdale Road, Bury, BL9 8TD, where limited desk space is available. Team members can also access PCFT sites for printing and other work-related requirements. The team typically works within education settings four days per week, with one flexible working day, which may include working from home. Some team members meet face to face on Tuesdays at Trust Headquarters in Ashton-under-Lyne. This role requires regular travel across the locality and, during the shadowing period, travel across boroughs may also be required.

Holds a recognised professional registration (e.g. nursing, social work, HCPC) or is a qualified Educational Mental Health Practitioner, with current registration. Has substantial post-qualification experience in child and adolescent mental health services, MHST, or adult mental health settings. Demonstrates strong leadership in managing and supervising multidisciplinary teams, including overseeing clinical assessments, risk management, and care planning. Is confident in providing both clinical and line management supervision, supporting staff development, recruitment, and performance. Has highly developed knowledge of mental health issues affecting children and young people and is skilled in implementing evidence-based interventions and service improvement. Is committed to partnership working with schools, local authorities, and community stakeholders, and to promoting safeguarding, equality, and continuous professional development.
