Job summary

We are delighted to offer an exciting opportunity to join our well-established Podiatry team as a HCPC Registered Band 7 Advanced MSK Podiatrist based in Stoke-on-Trent.We can offer both full time (37.5 hours per week) and part-time roles within the service, working flexibly, potentially across a various location across the Trust. We would also consider a development opportunity, with a structured process in place to support you meeting the requirements of this fantastic position in the team. You may be required to travel independently over a large geographical area and ideally have a driving licence and access to suitable transport to meet the requirements of the role.

You will be able to utilise your advanced skills and evidence-based practice to provide specialist assessment, treatment and management of patients of all ages with MSK pathologies. This will be both as part of a specialist group of MSK clinicians, but also as part of the North Staffordshire & Stoke on Trent integrated Musculoskeletal service providing support, advice, and staff development in MSK.You will provide supervisory, training and leadership responsibilities where appropriate, and will have some responsibility for team performance and service developments/improvements and demonstrate initiative and creativity in finding solutions to problems. You will be required to support and oversee excellent podiatry practice through mentorship and day to day guidance to team members and other professionals.

Main duties of the job

This is a dynamic role that requires you to work closely with uni/multi-disciplinary teams/agencies in addressing a range of care/support issues across the spectrum of conditions, preventing unnecessary hospital admissions and improving the health and wellbeing of those within our care.As part of this role, you will be expected to:

Establish and maintain effective working relationships both within the organisation and with external organisations to meet service requirements and support whilst demonstrating Trust's values.

Leadin the management of complex cases within the field of MSK, supporting other staff and co-working when needed You will be expected to lead on treatment plans and be self-organised to manage your own workload including onward referrals and actioning imaging, Diagnostic and investigative requests and results.

Undertake assessments, working with service users to develop needs and outcome focussed treatment/support plans. Assess service users and formulate, develop, implement and evaluate programmes of treatment /care/support for individuals, families and carers.

You may be required to deputise for the Podiatry Clinical Lead in a professional capacity as required along with supporting and overseeing excellent podiatry practice through mentorship and day to day guidance to team members and other professionals.

Person Specification

QUALIFICATIONS & TRAINING Essential

Degree level relevant professional qualification or equivalent. Registration with HCPC Relevant Post Graduate studies/qualification or equivalent clinical courses within area of clinical expertise Up to date field work/pre-registration student training.

Desirable

Master's qualification in relevant area that will support the delivery of the service If not already obtained, a commitment to undertaking Master's level modules. Further clinical study relevant to clinical practice such as management of long-term conditions Attendance at relevant forums e.g. Special Interest Groups. Qualification / capability framework evidence of knowledge of orthotic manufacture Appropriate qualification recognised by professional body or HCPC of administration of steroid injections within the foot and ankle, and successful completion of necessary mentored injection program and sign off from appropriate body,

EXPERIENCE Essential

Significant experience in the clinical specialism. Supporting service users, families and carers. Experience of negotiation and conflict management and in clinical situations. Experience of leading and / or participation in clinical audit or service evaluation. Effective communication skills Experience of supervision and development of staff members Experience of working in an orthotics lab including chairside, pre-formed, Total Contact and bespoke insole manufacture

Desirable

Significant experience of managing and implementing change Experience of teaching / training of biomechanical theory / practical assessment Experience of requesting diagnostic imaging and/or use of gait assessment software Experience of working with and offloading the high-risk foot (including offloading ulceration)

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & ABILITIES Essential

Evidence of expert/advanced clinical knowledge relevant to the post Understanding of Information Governance, Data Protection, HCPC standards and Safeguarding Vulnerable Adults Knowledge of relevant NICE guidance and professional standards specific to Podiatry and relevant advanced practice. Knowledge within the legislative framework for Podiatry Practice. Understanding of wider NHS agenda and its application to the local context The necessary competencies required to undertake this role are derived from Skills for Health and aligned to National Occupational Standards. Ability to manage time and clinical commitments
