Job summary
The post holder will be the senior point of contact for the administrative function work in Cellular Pathology office. Undertaking a senior role in ensuring the general clerical duties are completed in a timely manner. The post holder will be required to liaise with all grades of staff within the department and to communicate with external users of the service. They will need to work in line with the Trust and Departmental policies and procedures.
Main duties of the job
Ensure tasks for the department is completed in a timely manner.
To train new and junior staff under the direction of the Service Manager
To participate in the Business Continuity Plan for the department.
Help facilitate the introduction of new technology and new working practices to ensure the smooth running of the department when appropriate.
Escalate issues as needed to the service manager.
Line Management responsibility for junior administrative team including the authorisation of annual leave with support from the service manager.

Qualifications Essential
Educated to A-level, or NVQ Level 4 in Business Administration/Customer Care or acquired equivalent experience GCSE or equivalent in English and Maths, grades A-C
Experience Essential
Experience of using full range of IT systems and patient data systems Experience of using Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel Customer Care experience Ability to motivate and develop a team Clear, professional communication Confidence in analysing data or reports
Desirable
Experience of supervising staff Proven experience supervising staff Training in leadership or improvement
Skills Essential
Ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels Pays attention to detail Possess core functional skills of excel (basic formulas, sorting and filtering)
