We are seeking an enthusiastic Band 5 nurse to join our high-performing Day Surgery Unit. This is an exciting opportunity to work across three dynamic areas--Day Surgery 1, Day Surgery 2, and POD--giving you broad exposure and a strong understanding of caring for a wide range of elective and inpatient cases across multiple specialities. With such variety, no two days will be the same.
You will play a key role in the patient journey, from admission and pre-operative preparation through to recovery and discharge. Along the way, you will build strong working relationships with the multidisciplinary team and contribute to delivering high-quality, patient-centred care.

Main duties of the job
Deliver and maintain high standards of patient care at all times. Practice in line with Trust policies, procedures, and nursing guidelines. Coordinate the ward/team in the absence of the Team Leader or Ward Manager. Maintain confidentiality of patient information and ensure accurate, high-quality nursing documentation. Demonstrate awareness of the complaints procedure and apply it appropriately. Escalate any incidents, complaints, or staffing/ward concerns in a timely manner. Maintain an up-to-date professional portfolio and take responsibility for completing all required annual updates, including legislative and organisational training. Evaluate all completed training to ensure effective application in practice and achievement of learning objectives. Support and contribute to teaching programmes for student nurses, new staff, and newly qualified nurses, fostering a positive learning environment. Demonstrate comprehensive nursing knowledge and provide care throughout the patient journey, from admission to discharge. Actively promote health and wellbeing to patients and carers. Demonstrate and uphold infection prevention and control standards, promoting best practice within the unit. Use resources efficiently and effectively, maintaining awareness of financial and budgetary considerations.
