Job summary
There is an exciting opportunity for an Advanced Clinical Practitioner (ACP) to join the acute Clinical Support Service at Velindre Cancer Centre.
As part of this role, you will be a key responder to acutely deteriorating patients, including attending 2222 emergency calls, and managing complex acute presentations related to cancer diagnoses and systemic anti-cancer treatments. The position requires someone who is confident working autonomously in a fast-paced environment, with the ability to prioritise workload, make high-level clinical decisions and meet all four pillars of advanced practice.
The Clinical Support service will soon become a 24/7 service, and the post holder will be expected to work days, nights, and weekends to ensure consistent senior clinical support across the organisation. As the service continues to evolve during a period of organisational transformation, this role will also develop to include responsibilities as a Ward ACP.
Applications are also welcomed from candidates who are not yet in receipt of a full MSc in Advanced Clinical Practice and an independent prescribing qualification. In such cases, Annex 21 will be applied, and successful candidates will be supported to complete their academic and clinical development.
Successful applicants will be required to consolidate their learning for a minimum period of 12 months following qualification or when transitioning into a new speciality.
Main duties of the job
On a daily basis the Advanced Clinical Practitioner (ACP) will provide clinical assessment and management to patients.
The post holder will support research/use information systems, lead, and participate in relevant research within practice as well as demonstrate an understanding of research methodology,
Provides specialist education and training to other staff, students, patients and carers
Be autonomous in decision making, including judgments involving highly complex facts/situations that require the analysis, interpretation, and comparison of a range of options in relation to the care/management needs of the patients on a day-to-day basis within the clinical environment.
Managing complexity - making judgements involving highly complex facts or competing demands e.g., planned, and unplanned emergencies.
Plans and organises provision of care for patients and clients.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
