Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Locum Consultant Nuclear Medicine Physician/Radiologist, with an interest in molecular radiotherapy, to join our team in Nuclear Medicine at University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust. The post will be for up to 12 months.
We are one of the UK's largest teaching Trusts, a major trauma centre and regional Nuclear Medicine centre, serving a regional population of 1.5 million in a modern PFI facility (which ensures a guaranteed equipment replacement programme).
This post will be primarily based at the University Hospital site and will involve 10 programmed activities (10 PA).
Main duties of the job
The primary purposes of the post will be to contribute to the provision of Nuclear Medicine specialist services. The post holder will be an IR(ME)R (ARSAC) licence holder (or be working towards this) and undertake work to provide a comprehensive Radionuclide imaging service. The post holder will join the existing team, which comprises 5 consultant radiologists with interests in diagnostic general nuclear medicine, PET, contrast CT for hybrid imaging and molecular radiotherapy.

Job description Job responsibilities
The Nuclear Medicine Department provides all the nuclear medicine and PET imaging, non-imaging and radionuclide therapy services for Coventry and Warwickshire, performing over 9,000 investigations per year. The department has the UK first GE Healthcare Aurora SPECT CT gamma camera, the state-of-the-art Starguide Gamma camera and the Omni Legend 32 digital PET CT. The fourth camera, an Optima SPECT CT, is due for replacement on the PFI programme. There is MIM software and Xeleris V workstations which have a comprehensive range of analytical and display software packages for PET-CT/radiology and nuclear medicine respectively. The hospital is utilising the Insignia PACS system with Soliton RIS. The department has its own Radiopharmacy onsite (incorporating an aseptic laboratory for radiopharmaceutical manufacture) and a Gallium generator for PET Imaging. Specialist facilities also exist within the hospital to undertake inpatient radionuclide therapies. Molecular Radiotherapy services include Lu-177 Oxodotreotide, Radioiodine, Ra-223 Xofigo, Lu-177 PSMA as part of clinical trials, and Y-90 SIRT. The department is also undertaking a trial using Ac-225 PSMA. The hospital has recently renewed its ENET centre of excellence status. The department has an active research portfolio and is the only centre in the country to host the Xeos AURA10 mobile PET CT scanner for surgical margin assessment, as part of the eXcision trial. The department is also a reference and immersion site for GE Healthcare.
