About this role

Job summary

The Royal Wolverhampton Hospital NHS Trust is looking to appoint a Maintenance Worker Specialist (mechanical bias. The role is suitable for a mechanical tradesperson from a plumbing, engineering or pipefitting background who has completed a recognised apprenticeship or equivalent training programme with several years post training experience. Good fault finding and problem-solving skills are essential as is a willingness to undertake additional training when required. The ideal candidate will have knowledge of heating, ventilation systems and water services. Any previous steam systems experience would be advantageous.

Main duties of the job

The successful applicant will be part of a modernising team being motivated, forward thinking, enthusiastic individuals who are passionate about delivering a first-class efficient service and will be part of a shift rota.

He/she will demonstrate highly developed physical and technical skills and a keen willingness to learn and develop new skills particularly associated with building management controls, steam and pressure systems etc. Successful applicants will be able to repair complex faults on a wide range of systems and facilitate such works having freedom to prioritise activity to maximise performance.

Job description Job responsibilities

He/she will be a team player and will be capable of managing works acting as responsible person for the issue of Permit to Work (PTW) documentation etc. ensuring necessary procedural documentation is in place at all times. The successful candidate will also be expected to act as a Competent Person for various disciplines with the possibility of progressing to an Appointed Person in the future.

Person Specification

HNC / HND plus relevant experience to graduate / professional level gained through qualifications, training and or experience in Mechanical / Electrical Plant EngineeringAchieved Grades / Years Experience CP Certificates MGPS, HV/LV, Decontamination, Ventilation, Water etc.
