About this role

Job summary

We are looking for an experienced paediatric diabetes dietitian to join our team here at University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust for a 12 month maternity cover.

The post will be joining our paediatric diabetes dietetic team which consists of 2 band 7 dietitians (one of which is this post), a band 6 dietitian and a band 4 dietetic assistant practitioner. The team are supported by an experienced MDT team of consultants, PDSNs, psychologists, youth workers and play therapists.

The team work cross site at Royal Derby Hospital and Queens Hospital Burton. Having a driving license and access to a car for work purposes is essential.

Main duties of the job

The posts will include working with paediatric diabetes patients and their families/ carers in a variety of settings including, inpatient wards, outpatient clinics and remote clinics via phone or video. The service also offers home and school visits. Being able to travel cross site (Derby and Burton) and to visits around Derbyshire and East Staffordshire is essential.

The applicant must have experience in independently managing:

hybrid closed loop insulin pumps CGMs Diabetes care in infants and young children including neonatal diabetes The post will also include audit, quality improvement and service development as well as supporting junior staff members.

The department is committed to student training and dietetic apprenticeship. You will be involved in delivering placements for A, B and C placements.
