Job summary
The Practice Supervisor will support the day-to-day running of the practice, with a primary focus on the supervision and coordination of the Care Co-ordination Team across both sites.
The role will focus on ensuring effective workflow management, supporting patient access processes, and maintaining high standards of administrative and care coordination processes.
The post holder will act as a key point of contact for the Care Co-ordination Team, providing guidance, support, and oversight to ensure tasks are completed accurately and within required timescales.
They will facilitate effective communication between patients, clinicians, and external agencies, ensuring a smooth and responsive service.
The Practice Supervisor will support (but not lead) the delivery of operational processes, working alongside the Practice Manager and Executive Manager, escalating issues appropriately where required.
Main duties of the job
The Practice Supervisor will support the day-to-day running of the practice, with a primary focus on supervising the Care Co-ordination Team across both sites.
Key responsibilities include supervising staff, coordinating rotas and leave, managing sickness reporting, and ensuring appropriate service cover at all times. The post holder will provide first-line support, guidance and problem solving, monitor workloads, and support staff development through regular 1:1s and appraisals. Any performance or staffing concerns will be escalated to the Practice Manager, with support provided to HR processes as required.
The role also involves supporting administrative workflows, including medical records, patient recalls, and digital consultations, ensuring processes are completed safely, accurately, and in a timely manner. The post holder will assist with managing the appointment system and resolving operational issues.
Further responsibilities include supporting training, induction, and compliance with mandatory training requirements, as well as coordinating trainee and student placements.
The Practice Supervisor will provide support across wider practice operations, including premises, IT, patient feedback, and communications, ensuring issues are identified and escalated appropriately.
The post holder will work collaboratively with the Practice Manager and wider team to maintain a safe, efficient and patient-focused service.
