Job summary
We are a GP practice serving patients in Bodmin and the surrounding area, and operate a GP Acute Hub as part of our neighbourhood team.
We are looking to recruit a GP Hub Independent Prescriber - Minor Illness Nurse / Paramedic / NP to work within our primary care team; we are initially looking to recruit to cover Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays weekly.
This role would be to provide clinics seeing acute illness, with same day booking working alongside the Duty GP, as a supplement to the acute team to meet the on-the day demand.
Main duties of the job
Responsible for attending to patients who wish to be seen by a health care professional; diagnosing and treating patients presenting with acute on the day illness seeing and advising people in respect of their continuing medical and nursing needs.
The Clinician will work to an approved GP Hub SOP with designated patient criteria for direct booking.

Job Responsibilities
Undertaking clinical assessments of patients Liaising with the Duty team should additional tests or investigations be requiredManaging episodes of patient care Using different sources of information to assess and manage the care of a patient. Work alongside other health professionals, and provide support for others as required.
PATIENT ASSESSMENT
Evaluating and/or collecting information from physiological assessments, patient history, and diagnostic data to identify relevant problems. Non-medical prescribing Using clinical decision making to initiate appropriate management/treatments according to agreed protocols and clinical judgement. PATIENT SAFETY AND QUALITY IMPROVEMENT
Utilise evidence-based knowledge within practice development. Support and promote an integrated approach to quality, seeking always to improve patient care. Contribute to the clinical governance agenda within the Practice as required.
RESEARCH, EDUCATION AND DEVELOPMENT
Maintain accurate records and provide necessary data for statistical analysis. To act as a role model ensuring own actions promote quality and identify and manage any risks. To raise quality issues and report related risks within the local healthcare network to address poor standards and incidents. To keep up to date and act consistently with quality standards and guidelines within their own clinical area and associated areas

Qualifications Essential
Experience of working in accordance with the UKCC Code of professional Conduct and the Scope of Professional Practice Experience of dealing with the public / patients Registered General Nurse Recognised qualification to diploma level or above Demonstrate a commitment to professional development Qualification *Specific nursing skills / or equivalent qualifications *Excellent communication skills *Team Player *An understanding, acceptance and adherence to the need for strict confidentiality *Ability to work with direct supervision and determine workload priorities *Ability to work as part of an integrated multi-skills team * Able to use own initiative *Flexibility of working hours / able to work at the desired times
Desirable
*Previous experience of working in General Practice. * Experience of EMIS Web Clinical System. *Qualifications and Certificates in: Independent Prescribing and Minor Ailments Course Computer Skills. *Ability to use own judgement and common sense. *Pleasant and articulate. *Able to work under pressure. *Used to a changing environment.
