Job summary
We are excited to be recruiting a part-time Trainee Family & Systemic Psychotherapist (Band 6 moving to Band 7 on successful completion of training) to join our Managing Eating Disorder pathway in Children and Family Health Devon (CFHD).
We have one vacancy in Torbay and South (30 hours). This is an excellent opportunity to join a supportive multi-disciplinary team providing systemic therapy to children, young people and their families experiencing complex emotional and mental health challenges related to eating difficulties.
Trainees will receive protected study time, supervision and support to develop their skills and gradually build a caseload.
You will deliver evidence-based systemic therapy, contribute to assessments, care planning and interventions, and support colleagues to embed family-focused practice. We offer regular systemic supervision, a collaborative team culture, and ongoing professional development.
Main duties of the job
Complete systemic assessments to identify strengths, risks and needs to inform care planning for children and young people referred to MERs (CAMHS).
Provide evidence-based systemic therapy in line with NICE guidance.
Manage a caseload of children and young people with moderate to severe mental health needs, ensuring timely, person-centred interventions (caseload will be supervised and graduated for trainees).
Work collaboratively with multi-disciplinary colleagues and partner agencies.
Contribute to service development and quality improvement.
Maintain clear clinical records in line with professional and organisational standards.

Qualifications Essential
An honours degree level qualification giving eligibility to train at Masters level in Child & Adolescent Psychotherapy Post graduate qualification in Working with Children, Young People and Families, A psychoanalytic Observational Approach or eligible to apply Evidence of relevant CPD.
Desirable
Core degree level qualification in e.g. Nursing, Social Work, Occupational Therapy, or other equivalent profession. Professional registration/accreditation with a recognised body, e.g. NMC, HCPC, Social Work England, UKCP, BABCP
Experience Essential
Experience of working with children and young people (0-18) Experience of collaborative working with professionals across a range of agencies in health, social care and education. Experience that evidences an ability to tend to diversity and work in a way that promotes anti-discriminatory practice. Experience of safeguarding children and ensuring the safety of young people in partnership with other agencies as appropriate. Experience of working as an autonomous practitioner with the ability to take on responsibility, make decisions and seek support as needed. Essential

Experience of engaging/working with children, young people, families and carers with complex mental health needs and undertaking specialist mental health assessments and evidence-based therapeutic interventions in the community, including risk assessments. Experience of using outcome measures collaboratively with children and young people and /or others to inform and improve practice. Experience of supervising or managing others including assistant practitioners or trainees.
