Main duties of the job The role of Assistant Cook at Akari Care requires dedication and passion for improving the lives of elderly residents. As meals are a pivotal aspect of our residents daily routine, the Assistant Cook will ensure meals are of exceptional quality and tailored to the needs and preferences of each resident. This includes considering religious, cultural backgrounds, and personal tastes. The Assistant Cook will be responsible for creating menus and presenting meals attractively. Furthermore, they will guide and inspire a kitchen team, nurturing their personal growth and development. To excel in this position, candidates should possess City & Guilds 706 1&2 qualifications or be working towards them, have a Basic Food Hygiene Certificate, and have experience in a similar setting. Supervisory experience is also required. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate compassion, an ability to lead by example, and the adaptability to handle diverse needs. A warm, respectful, and engaging demeanor is essential for this role aimed at supporting the well-being of residents.

As the pivotal link between the kitchen and the serving areas you will have the autonomy to create menus, plate up and arrange food trollies in an attractive way for our residents to gain enthusiasm and a stimulated appetite to eat.

What we require from you:

City & Guilds 706 1&2, or equivalent (achieved or working towards)

Basic Food Hygiene Certificate

Assistant Cook or Cookexperience with similar environment /surrounding.

Supervisory or Line Management experience

A caring nature to give everyone a personal approach.

Proven ability to lead by example, motivate a team and delegate effectively.

Flexible and adaptable to changes at short notice.

Warm, approachable, and engaging persona

Respect everyone, treating others as you would expect to be treated.

Resilient and adaptable to differing needs of colleagues and residents.

Person Specification

Qualifications Essential

City & Guilds 706 1&2, or equivalent (achieved or working towards), Basic Food Hygiene Certificate, Assistant Cook or Cook experience with similar environment /surrounding, Supervisory or Line Management experience.
