Main duties of the job We are searching for a compassionate and enthusiastic Specialist School Nurse to oversee healthcare provision for children aged 219 at Woodlands School, Leatherhead. This role involves providing expert training and support to school staff, parents, and carers, ensuring the best possible care. Responsibilities include delivering high-quality child-centred nursing care and developing personalised care plans while maintaining accurate records. Candidates need RGN or RSCN qualification, child and/or learning disability experience, and a clear understanding of community health services. A car driver's license is necessary. This role is based at Woodlands School in Leatherhead.
Main Responsibilities Deliver safe, high-quality, child-centred nursing care, including medication oversight, tracheostomy and PEG care, and emergency response.
Assess health needs, make informed clinical decisions, and contribute to safeguarding and multi-agency work.
Communicate effectively with children, families, and professionals, using alternative communication methods where needed.
Develop and review personalised care plans and empower families in managing health needs.
Maintain accurate, confidential records and ensure safe use of medical equipment.
Provide training, supervision, and mentorship to school staff and students.
Support service improvement through audit, evaluation, and evidence-based practice.
Work autonomously while upholding high professional standards across the school nursing service.
