37.5 hours per week.
This is a new an exciting opportunity for an NMC registered practitioner to provide expert health input into child protection investigations, child safeguarding decision making and quality assurance across the health system. This role is to coordinate a lead child protection activity across the health system in Plymouth working with social care education and police. This role is the lead health practitioner within of the newly formed Muti agency child protection team (MACPT), part of the family first partnership programme.
This role may not be eligible for sponsorship under the Skilled Worker route; please refer to the Direct Gov website for more information with regards to eligibility.

Main duties of the job
Main duties:
The lead health professional within the MACPT.
Assess and analyse complex information relating to children and families
Contribute to section s47 child protection enquires and multi agency risk assessments.
Provide consultation and safeguarding advice to professionals.
Attend and contribute to child protection conferences and planning meetings.
Support the development of child protection plan and interventions.
Participate in audits, reviews and safeguarding practice reviews to improve service quality.

Job description Job responsibilities
To undertake the responsibilities of the MACPT health lead function for the Plymouth Health system but employed by Livewell, to monitor and develop effective professional working practice in all matters relating to Safeguarding Children and Child Protection as part fo the Family First partnership and MACPT, issues and providing expert professional advice and support to all staff within the organisation including Livewell Southwest Board and identified partner agencies as described in Working Together to Safeguard Children HM Government 2026 and within the generic framework, as described in Safeguarding Children and Young People: Roles and Competencies for Health Care Staff- Intercollegiate Document RCPCH 2019 supported by The Department of Health.
The MACPT will lead on and ensures effective partnership working for health in regard to Safeguarding Children. underpinned in Government strategy and national, regional and local guidance, procedures and standards.
Will have completed specific training in the care of babies/children and young people and be registered on the Nursery and Midwifery Council NMC register as a registered children's nurse, registered midwife or a specialist community public health nurse having completed a specific programme with a child and family focus. Will have participated in single and multi-agency safeguarding children training. Will have an in depth and up-to-date knowledge of safeguarding vulnerable children and young people policies and legislation including; The Children Act, Children in Need, Children in the Looked After System, Domestic Abuse and Public Protection and its integration within wider national and local children's policies. Will have a thorough working knowledge of the policy issues relating to data protection, confidentiality and information sharing. Will have an informed understanding of the relationship between social, economic and educational factors and the impact of health inequalities in child welfare. Will maintain an in-depth knowledge of current issues in safeguarding children both nationally and locally. Will demonstrate commitment to on-going self-education and personal development by personal development plan, appraisal and regular effective supervision.

Person Specification
Experience Essential
Have completed specific post registration training in safeguarding children and young people/child protection prior to commencement in the post and evidence competency at level 4 child protection. Have significant and relevant experience related to caring for babies/children and young people (or in the case of mental health relevant experience), be currently practicing in the field of safeguarding/child protection, and have an understanding (and experience where appropriate) of forensic matters.

Qualifications Essential
Educated to masters level or equivalent level of experience of working at a senior level in specialist area. Extensive knowledge of specialist areas, acquired through post graduate diploma or equivalent experience or training plus further specialist knowledge or experience to masters level equivalent. Evidence of post qualifying and continuing professional development. Have completed specific training in the care of babies/children and young people and be registered on either Part 1 of the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) register as a registered childrens nurse or mental health nurse (in mental health organisations) Part 2 as a registered midwife, or Part 3 as a specialist community public health nurse having completed a specific programme with a child and family focus.
