Job summary
Following an internal reorganisation, Bankhouse Surgery is seeking to recruit an additional Receptionist to join our friendly and supportive team.
We are looking for an organised, professional, and approachable individual who enjoys working with people and thrives in a busy environment.
This is a varied and rewarding role that includes:
Providing a welcoming and efficient service to patients at reception
Handling telephone enquiries and directing calls appropriately
Supporting clinicians and the wider practice team with administrative tasks
Liaising with external organisations and healthcare professionals
Assisting with the smooth day-to-day running of the practice
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills, a positive attitude, good organisational abilities, and the capacity to work effectively as part of a team while maintaining confidentiality at all times.
Previous reception or customer service experience is desirable, although full training will be provided.

About us
Bankhouse surgery is located in the One Life Hartlepool. The practice offers services to 10,500 patients and has an excellent team of GP's, nurses, pharmacist and an admin/reception team. The practice is a training practice.
Job description Job responsibilities
The following are the core responsibilities of the Receptionist. There may be, on occasion, a requirement to carry out other tasks. This will be dependent upon factors such as workload and staffing levels:
Process personal, telephone and e-requests for appointments
Answer incoming phone calls, transferring calls or dealing with the callers request
Signpost patients to the correct service
Initiating contact with and responding to, requests from patients, team members and external agencies
Photocopy documentation as required
Data entry of new and temporary registrations and relevant patient information as required
Input data into patients healthcare records as necessary
Direct requests for information, i.e., SAR, insurance/solicitors letters and DVLA forms to the administrative team
Manage all queries as necessary in an efficient manner
Maintain a clean, tidy, effective working area at all times
Monitor and maintain the reception area and notice boards
Support all clinical staff with general tasks as requested
Action incoming emails and correspondence as necessary
Scan patient related documentation and attach scanned documents to patients healthcare records
