Contract Type: Fixed Term (maternity cover)

If you're looking for career progression in a supportive department which emphasises clinical supervision and peer support, as well as learning and development across the Four Pillars of Practice, this may be the post for you!

You will be joining the growing team of over 30 Dietitians within our Trust, as a Dietitian based at York Hospital. This would be for a candidate that is looking to progress their clinical and leadership skills within stroke and neurology dietetics, both on an inpatient and outpatient basis.

You will be proactive, organised and looking to gain more experience and knowledge in stroke and neurology dietetics for both inpatients, and outpatient clinics, including patients on home enteral feeding. You will be supporting patients with conditions including motor neurone disease, multiple sclerosis, complex Parkinson's disease, epilepsy, functional neurological disorder, brain injury and different types of strokes requiring oral nutrition support and/or enteral feeding. You will also have the opportunity to see patients through from their acute inpatient stay to the outpatient setting to ensure that continuity of care.

Main duties of the job

The department places a strong emphasis on clinical and peer support and clinical supervision, and has a well-established programme facilitating the training of dietetic students on the three clinical placements, included within their training. We are also involved in delivering a variety of rolling training programmes for other healthcare professionals across the Trust, relating to nutritional care.

You will have the opportunity to work with many experienced dietitians, as well as within broader multi-professional teams. You will be working with other dietitians and dietetic assistant practitioners, and together you will provide inpatient and outpatient services for people diagnosed with stroke or neurological disease(s).

The ability to transport yourself and equipment across the locality during the course of a normal working day is required for this vacancy.If you are currently employed by the Trust and you wish to apply for this role on a secondment basis, please seek permission from your current line manager before applying for the post.

Education, Qualifications and Training Essential

HCPC Registered Dietitian Evidence of relevant CPD activities

Desirable

Evidence of post graduate training within specialist area Practice placement supervisor qualification

Experience & Knowledge Required Essential

Experience in a relevant junior role, including the management of a range of conditions, with evidence of additional knowledge acquired through formal and informal clinical supervision Evidence of ability to manage complex clinical presentations Experience in delivering clinical treatment within specialist area Understanding of current issues in health care Standards of Professional Practice Experience in assessment and provision of specialist equipment

Desirable

Experience in the use of outcome measures to evaluate clinical treatment Developed / Specialist clinical skills within relevant area Experience of training/supporting others (including students) within specialist clinical area Delivery of relevant audit projects
