Pennine Care NHS Foundation Trust is seeking to appoint 2 Specialty doctors for the Inpatient service at Stockport (1 Specialty doctor for female inpatient ward and 1 Specialty doctor for male inpatient ward).
The Stockport general adult psychiatry service (generally for people aged 16 and over) previously operated under a 'sector' model, whereby each Consultant covered a geographic area of Stockport, covering both the community and inpatient setting. This has recently changed, and currently two Consultants will cover the inpatient psychiatry wards at Stepping Hill Hospital, Arden and Norbury ward, with other Consultants working in the community with the Community Mental Health Teams (CMHT).
Main duties of the job
These are new posts to provide consistent and experienced medical support to the inpatient unit.
Duties will consist of assessing patients admitted to the inpatient ward and where appropriate initiating treatment. The appointed doctors will be expected to join the ward round with the team, conduct physical health examination and monitor the patients on the ward. They will be expected to monitor the treatment plans as outlined by the MDT and report to the ward consultant.

Person Specification
EDUCATION / QUALIFICATIONS Essential
MBChB or equivalent Section 12 approval or a willingness to seek approval
Desirable
MRCPsych or equivalent Registered as completed Higher Training with the Royal College of Psychiatrists Progress towards additional Post Graduate Degree, such as Msc or MD.
SKILLS / KNOWLEDGE Essential
Good Interpersonal and team working skills. Leadership skills. Knowledge of relevant requirements and legislation such as the Mental Health Act, Care Programme Approach etc
Desirable
An additional area of relevant special interest. Actively involved in continuing professional development
EXPERIENCE Essential
A minimum of 4 years in Psychiatry at CT, ST or Staff Grade level at least 2 years of these should be in general adult psychiatry Experience relevant to modern community orientated adult psychiatry. Experience of teaching and training.
Desirable
Experience of management. Experience of service development and planning Worked for a total of 10years since primary qualification (which is acceptable by GMC for full/limited or temporary registration)
