Job summary
The Reception Staff are the first point of contact for patients and visitors arriving within theEmergency Department. The receptionist role is to provide administrative support and tocontribute directly with the management of patient's clinical care. This will be undertaken byuse of a 24-hour Rota, which includes all Bank holidays.
Main duties of the job
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
Greet all patients and visitors when they enter the department and to establish which area they need to be treated in and redirect as appropriate
To deal with telephone and personal inquiries in a polite, helpful, and courteous manner whilst making sure that patient confidentiality is maintained.
To correctly record all patient personal details and outcome on the department database (Electronic Patient Record) ensuring that strict data accuracy and confidentiality is upheld in accordance with the Data Protection Act and the Access to Health Records Act.
Maintain the confidentiality
Retrieve patient's medical notes from healthcare records and other departments and prepare them for the patient's admission.
Create outpatient referrals for A/E clinics on a daily basis
Preparation and running of the daily clinics which are held within the A&E Department daily, registering patient's attendance on EPR.
Complete the bed state on the CMS system when based in Majors reception
Ensure that the LAS pin numbers are retrieved and entered on the HAS 2 system
Liaise with the hospital clinical staff and GP's regarding patient examination reports.
To assist in the training of new employees and less experienced members of staff.
Respond and deal with all patient enquiries
Record incidents/accidents/complaints on the electronic reporting system (Datix)
