Job summary

The NHS London Bowel Cancer Screening Programme (BCSP) Hub supports a population of more than 9 million people across London and coordinates the activities of up to eight Screening Centres delivering Faecal Immunochemical Testing (FIT). We are seeking a highly motivated, well-presented Hub Administrator to join our dynamic and dedicated team.

As a key member of the Hub, the post holder will contribute to the delivery of a high-quality, cost-effective and patient-centred service aligned with the objectives of the national Bowel Cancer Screening Programme. You will work closely with the Programme Hub Management Team to ensure smooth, efficient and compliant operations across all administrative functions.

The ideal candidate will be organised, proactive and committed to delivering high standards of service. Will demonstrate excellent communication skills, attention to detail and the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team. Experience in quality systems, audit, or NHS administrative roles is desirable.

Main duties of the job

Provide comprehensive administrative support across the Hub, ensuring timely and accurate completion of tasks. Support the Service Development Coordinator with new initiatives, projects and the integration of improvements into business-as-usual processes. Assist the Quality Manager with quality-related activities, including maintaining and updating the departmental Quality Management System (Q-Pulse). Support the Training Manager with the administration of training plans, competency documentation and staff development records. Undertake scheduled audits in line with the departmental Audit Plan. Investigate service or performance issues, documenting findings and managing actions through the Q-Pulse. Contribute to stock control processes and general operational support as required. Provide line management support for designated staff, including oversight of training needs across relevant modalities to assist team leaders and service priorities.

Person Specification

Education/ qualifications Essential

Educated to A-Level Standard.

Desirable

Educated to undergraduate degree level in a clinical or life sciences related subject or have equivalent experience.

Knowledge and experience Essential

Experience in staff supervision and management. Highly developed organisational skills, with a proven ability to work to deadlines and meet targets Experience contributing to service change and improvement initiatives

Desirable

Knowledge of the principles and practice underpinning screening programmes Experience of using quality management systems to support and improve patient care

Skills, abilities and attributes Essential

Highly proficient in IT systems and applications, particularly MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and databases, with good typing speed Able to work to a high standard under pressure, concentrating for long periods, paying close attention to detail and taking a methodical approach Excellent communication, interpersonal and influencing skills, with the ability to teach, motivate and use tact and diplomacy effectively

Desirable

Able to receive and convey highly complex, sensitive and often contentious information in an appropriate, professional and supportive manner, whether relating to programme performance or to individuals working within the programme
