Job summary
An exciting opportunity for a band 7 Paediatric Allergy clinical Nurse Specialist has become available at Whipps Cross hospital.The successful candidate will contribute to the provision of care for paediatric patients with allergy conditions. The role involves leading nurse led clinics, food and drug challenges, skin prick testing and spirometry. The role further extends to providing specialist allergy care for private patients accessing the allergy service.Our dynamic and inclusive team includes paediatric consultants with a wealth of expertise in the field of Allergy and paediatric nurses, who you will work in conjunction to provide quality care, in line with national standards and local policies.Whipps Cross hospital's vision is to provide excellent and equitable health care efficiently. Main duties of the job
The allergy nurse specialist is a new role within paediatrics at Whipps Cross hospital. Allerrgy services provided by the post holder, will be for a combination of NHS and private patients. The post holder will utilise speacilaist skills in line wth best practice, up to date national guidelines and trust policy to assess,diagnose and manage children with allergy conditions. Teaching, collaborative and innovative work, will be use by the post holder to ensure emergency allergiic reactions are managed effectively within and outside of the acute hospital setting, by children and their families.

RSCN/RN child branch-with current NMC registration Non- medical prescriber (V300)-or prepared to work towards it Related course with recognised qualification Mentorship/Teaching equivalent

Knowledge Essential
Relevant knowledge of up to date National guidelines such as BSACI,NICE and local allergy pathways, to effectively manage of allergy conditons. Recognition of the deteoriating child and appropriate steps to address it. Sufficient knowledge in the Management of anaphylaxis. Konwledge about Paediatric Immediate Life Support (PILS)
Experience Essential
Experience working within an acute NHS Trust Experience in allergy,respiratory or dermatology. Leading nurse-led clinics Evidence of working with paediatric patients 0-16 years. Experience in practice supervison of health care professionals Facilitation of food and drug challeanges, for the child & young person. Experience in supporting MDT pathways Proven experience working with supporting MDTpathways,to provide safe care and service efficiency for paediatric patients with allergy conditons. Experience in identifying and addressing health care inequalities for children and their families. Clear understanding of managing clinical risk

Skills Essential
Expert skill and knowledge in safely carryout skin prick test for paediatric patients. Able to effectively prioritise and manage complex workload Good communication skills and is able to educate children and their families,schools and other health care professionals. Ability to act as an advocate in the best interest of the child at all times. Proficient in using Electronic health record systems i:e: Cerner Millennium and/ digital flow tools, dashboards Able to work autonomously.
