This is an opportunity to work in a large, acute healthcare Trust, in a psychology team that provides outpatient and inpatient support, MDT clinical work and input into service delivery.

Main duties of the job
This part-time, fixed-term role will focus primarily on:
- Triaging (by phone)/assessing/providing therapy to outpatients (and potentially inpatients), relating to the psychological aspects of living with their haematological condition(s).
- Where appropriate, providing input into multidisciplinary team meetings/clinics.
Where time permits, there may also be opportunities to be involved in audits and service development, support junior staff members, teaching/training, group work and transition work.
There is also access to a range of department-wide and trust-wide learning opportunities/events to further develop your experiences of working within physical healthcare.
We are looking for someone with:
Experience of working in a general hospital setting, using evidence-based psychological therapies with people with long-term physical conditions Innovative ideas about how to make care accessible and effective for the communities we serve We welcome applications from trainee psychologists who are in the process of completing training requirements and obtaining HCPC registration. If HCPC registration has not been achieved by the time the post starts, candidates would start on B6 and move to B7 once conditions for that banding (including HCPC registration) have been achieved (providing this can be done within a reasonable and agreed time frame).
About us
Since 1997, the Haematology Psychology Service (HPS) has provided psychological support to patients with blood disorders and their families at GSTT. We are based within the haematology department at Guy's Hospital, with dedicated space in the Haemostasis & Thrombosis Centre at St Thomas' and are therefore well integrated within the multidisciplinary haematology teams.
The HPS is led by the Consultant Clinical & Health Psychologist and comprises of Practitioner Psychologists of various grades including a Senior Assistant Psychologist. The service is a popular placement destination for Doctoral clinical psychology trainees, MSc health psychology trainees, and psychology undergraduates. We host the 8a community psychologist role within the South East London Sickle Cell Enhanced Community care pilot and the GSTT Infected Blood Psychological Service. We also meet regularly with other psychologists across GSTT and are involved in Trust-wide initiatives.

Qualifications and Professional Registration Essential
Doctoral level qualification or its equivalent in clinical or health or counselling psychology as accredited by BPS Registered with HCPC as practitioner psychologist or expect to do so by 31/10/26
Experience Essential
Experience of psychological assessment and treatment of adult patients with physical health problems Experience of using evidence based psychological Interventions, for assessment and treatment of a wide variety of psychological problems Experience of the application of psychology in different cultural contexts Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary team Experience of providing both group based and individual psychological interventions Experience and ability to undertake risk assessment of client in relation to self and others, and refer on to appropriate services as necessary
Desirable
Experience in the psychological management of haematological disorders, chronic pain
Knowledge Essential
Knowledge of evidence-based psychological therapeutic interventions Awareness of racial, cultural and diversity differences/issues through attendance of relevant training
