Job summary Are You Ready to Train as a Health Visitor? HCRG Care Group is excited to offer funded SCPHN (Specialist Community Public Health Nursing) training posts for the course starting in January 2027. We are looking for dedicated, reflective, and dynamic Nurses or Midwives who are passionate about making a real difference to children, families, and communities across Surrey. This year we have 6 Health Visitor SCPHN student posts available across Surrey. The course is delivered exclusively through Oxford Brookes University and leads to a Master's level qualification. The SCPHN programme at Oxford Brookes University is a Master's level course (PG Dip / MSc) and is available on both a full-time and part-time basis. The course combines online distance learning with supervised practice placements: Online distance learning - 2 days per week (theoretical and academic component). Practice placement - 3 days per week (clinical learning and hands-on experience). The 50/50 split of theory and practice ensures you develop both academic and clinical skills.
Main duties of the job The Health Visitor SCPHN student posts offer an opportunity to receive funded training provided by the HCRG Care Group, starting in January 2027. The training is specifically designed for Nurses and Midwives who are registered with the NMC, and it leads to a Master's level SCPHN qualification through Oxford Brookes University. The course involves a balanced approach with 50% online distance learning and 50% practice placement to ensure comprehensive theoretical and practical training. Successful candidates will have the chance to apply their theoretical knowledge to practical scenarios during placements while working with families to promote health among children aged 0-4 years. A registered Nurse or Midwife in the UK with an undergraduate degree or a diploma in nursing is essential, along with a UK driving license. Suitable candidates should be passionate about health visiting and contributing to public health improvements through evidence-based assessments and care.

Main ResponsibilitiesAs a Student SCPHN Health Visitor you will play a vital role in ensuring that every child gets the best possible start in life, developing the skills to lead the Healthy Child Programme.

Essential: Registered with the NMC as a Nurse or Midwife, UK residency, undergraduate degree or diploma in nursing, UK driving license. Desirable: Completion of a recent Level 6 (or above) module.
