An exciting and unique opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, dynamic and self-motivated professional to join our clinical trials team at the Sutton site of the Royal Marsden.
You will be part of a team consisting of Pharmacists, Technicians and Assistants, who are always striving for excellence in all aspects of our work. We are working collaboratively as part of a Multi-Disciplinary Team to ensure we always deliver outstanding care to our patients.
This is an exciting time to join the Royal Marsden Hospital Clinical Trials Department. Our service is built around providing a high-quality service to our patients and staff of the Trust. The Oak Cancer Centre (a new, state-of-the-art treatment and research facility) opened in June 2023 in Sutton which will speed up the translation of world-leading research into breakthroughs in treatment and care, transforming the lives of cancer patients at The Royal Marsden and beyond.
The hospital has recently introduced the EPIC digital health record system and we are looking to use the full capabilities of this system to support the pharmacy teams and become a more efficient and truly paperless department.
Main duties of the job
The Job Description outlines the roles of the Technician, Clinical Trials. You will be expected to assist with co-ordination of the day-to-day running of our clinical trials portfolio at the Royal Marsden under the direction of the Chief Technician Clinical Trials, ensuring a standard approach to the IMP management and dispensing of clinical trials.You will assist with ensuring that trials run smoothly; this will include dispensing prescriptions, ensuring accurate stock control, record keeping, and drug accountability of clinical trials is maintained. You will also be liaising within the necessary multi-disciplinary teams.

2.1 To support the Pharmacy Clinical Trials Team (PCTT) to ensure the efficient and successful delivery and dispensing of clinical trials and other studies according to Good Clinical Practice (GCP), standard operating procedures (SOPs), trust policies and all applicable regulations and governance.
2.2 To support the Senior Pharmacy Technicians, Clinical Trials in the running of the Clinical Trials service. To ensure an efficient, structured, consistent, and accurate service as stipulated in the pharmacy clinical trial Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Person Specification
Education/Qualifications Essential
Educated to 5 GCSC's grade A-C (9-4) including English and mathematics or equivalent. NVQ Level 2 in Pharmacy Services or relevant GPhC accredited Training Programme equivalent to Level 2
Desirable
NVQ level 3 Pharmacy services /BTEC in Pharmaceutical Science or equivalent Current certified ICH-GCP training Background in oncology Good understanding of medical terminology
Experience Essential
Previous experience of working in a hospital or community pharmacy pharmacy Experience of preparing & dispensing prescriptions. Experience of working independently in a busy environment and exercising decision-making skills Experience of working with databases Intermediate level of using Microsoft Office application especially Microsoft Word and Excel

Skills/Abilities/Knowledge Essential
Ability to work well under pressure with competing deadlines by prioritising and managing own time effectively in light of unexpected events or changing priorities. Excellent organisational skills, including excellent attention to detail and record keeping. Excellent interpersonal & communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively (both orally and written) with all levels of health professionals.
