A rare and exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Elective & Diagnostic Booking Team at Wexham Park Hospital, at the heart of the Surgical Directorate. If you are looking for a fast-paced, rewarding role where you can make a real difference to patient care, this is your chance.
You will play a key part in managing patient pathways, ensuring timely access to life-changing surgical and diagnostic services, and supporting the Trust to deliver on its key performance standards. This is a fast-paced and demanding role, requiring excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively. Strong communication skills are essential, along with the ability to meet tight deadlines, adapt quickly, and maintain a high standard of accuracy.
Please note this position is to cover a planned period of extended leave for six months, commencing mid-December. Candidates must be available to start from this time.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone to gain valuable experience within the NHS, or for an internal secondment to explore a different area of work.

Main duties of the job
The successful postholder will be responsible for the proactive management of waiting lists and work queues, ensuring patients are scheduled efficiently and in line with Trust and national targets, including RTT and cancer pathways. You will coordinate and book theatre lists for surgeons across a range of specialities, working closely with clinical teams to maximise utilisation and ensure effective use of capacity.
The role requires regular liaison with consultants, clinical teams, and other key stakeholders to support the smooth running of elective and diagnostic services. You will also be a key point of contact for patients, providing clear, compassionate, and timely communication throughout their pathway.
A strong focus on delivering a high standard of customer service is essential, ensuring a professional and supportive experience for both patients and colleagues. The postholder will be expected to work accurately under pressure, prioritise workloads effectively, and contribute to continuous service improvement.
