We have a fantastic opportunity for a Healthcare Assistant to join the team at HMP Garth, a high security Category B male prison located in Leyland. HMP Garth has capacity of around 792, and houses men serving long term and indeterminate sentences.
In this crucial role, you will work within the Long Term Conditions team, who are part of the wider planned care / primary care team. This is a great role in which you really can make a difference whilst growing your own skills - we are happy to support and train you in venepuncture, ECGs, wound care etc - we just need you to have a passion for delivering exceptional care! You will be fully supported and learn skills to grow your career! Hours
This position is full time working 37.5 hours per week, Monday - Friday, 8am - 4pm.
Salary You will receive an annual salary of £25,557 - £29,723 per annum.
Candidates are required to have a Legal right to work in the UK and due to the nature of the role, offers of employment will be subject to additional vetting and security checks

Main duties of the job
As our new Healthcare Assistant, your responsibilities will vary. Some of your duties will include:
Help those with long term conditions by carrying out bloods (venepuncture), observations, NHS health checks etc Carry out reception duties - helping those entering prison, carrying out point of care duties such as blood borne viruses and clinical observations Run and assist in clinics such as sexual health and health promotion Assist with the administration side of vaccines and immunisations Carry out duties within healthcare rooms on the wings Assist the wider primary care team as needed If you are interested in career development, we have a wide range of opportunities for you to develop your skills and experience, which include both internal and external options for development and learning.
