About this role

Job summary

We have an exciting opportunity for a Phlebotomist to join our Nursing team at Beacon Medical Group for 25.5 hours per week.

Interview Date - Monday 13th July

Working Pattern:

Mondays at Ivybridge Medical Practice:

AM 09:15-13:15 & PM 14:00-18:00

Tuesdays at Ivybridge Medical Practice:

AM 09:15-13:15, PM 14:00-18:00 & PM 18:30-20:00

Fridays at Plympton Health Centre:

AM 09:15-13:15 & PM 14:00-18:00

Main duties of the job

Ensuring that the patient is as comfortable and relaxed as possible and confirming their agreement to the collection of a blood sample.

Collection of sample(s) of blood in accordance with training and procedures.

Ensuring samples are stored in appropriate containers.

Accurate, legible labelling of all samples to confirm patient identity.

Checking patient identification against GP/nurse request and confirming with patient whenever possible.

Recording collection of blood sample in patient record in accordance with practice procedure.

Ensuring that samples are dispatched to the appropriate laboratories in a timely fashion. Carry out blood pressures, heart rate, uranalysis and other sample testing.

Ensuring that anomalies are reported to a senior member of staff

Notifying the GP/nurse of any significant patient issues

Liaising with and assisting members of the administrative team

To be responsible for your own continuing self-development, undertaking training as appropriate.

To undertake other duties appropriate to the grading of the post as required.

Must be able to work flexible hours.

Job description Job responsibilities

Working under the direct supervision of the lead practice nurses and strictly in accordance with specific practice guidelines and protocols, the post-holder will be responsible for performing venepuncture to obtain blood from patients.

Evidence of a good general standard of education Good IT skills Experience in similar role will be considered

Phlebotomy skills and experience Health care service certificates and/or diplomas in Phlebotomy INR Certificate
