Job summary Were looking for a dedicated and compassionate Assistant Housekeeper to join Demelza and help create a clean, safe and welcoming home environment for children, young people and their families.
Main duties of the job In this hands-on role, youll support the upkeep of our hospice environment by carrying out cleaning, laundry and infection control duties, preparing family rooms, and helping maintain high standards across all areas. Youll also work closely with volunteers and step in to support the Deputy Housekeeper when needed. Were looking for someone who: Has experience in housekeeping (ideally in healthcare or hospitality) Takes pride in maintaining high standards of cleanliness Is organised, reliable and able to work both independently and as part of a team Brings empathy and sensitivity when working with families and children At Demelza, youll be part of a passionate team committed to delivering exceptional care and support.

Person Specification
Experience Essential
Recent work experience in a housekeeping role, preferably within a healthcare or hospitality setting Knowledge of basic hygiene Given the nature of our work must be able to demonstrate relevant life skills, with an understanding outlook and able to respond appropriately to confidential and sensitive information. Ability to work effectively as part of the Housekeeping team and the wider Demelza team as well as working on your own initiative Ability to prioritise own workload and that of volunteer assistance Ability to respond and relate to children and young people of all ages and abilities and their families Flexible approach to working as dictated by the needs of the service Basic computer skills (additional training can be offered if required) Demonstrate close alignment to all Demelza values

Proactive approach to the principles of infection control.
