Job SummaryYou will serve as a CONTRACT SPECIALIST in the NAVAL SYSTEMS MANAGEMENT ACTIVITY. This position is in the excepted service and does not confer competitive status.
QualificationsIn addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-09) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience includes duties related to the following: Analyzing, evaluating and gathering data, planning, and organization; Conveying written information in a clear, concise, organized, and convincing manner and can clearly and effectively articulate to all levels of government and industry; Developing and presenting findings, reports or recommendations to analysts, employees, and managers inside or outside of the organization, agency heads or other high-ranking officials; Interacting with a wide variety of personnel and demonstrating business acumen for quick and accurate judgment. Major DutiesYou will provide contracting support to designated programs/projects.You will prepare and/or demonstrate proficiency in the following elements with some assistance: Contract structure, Contract types selection, market research, exercising an option, request for proposal and the change clause.You will understand the pricing of commercial items, types of appropriations, justification and approvals, acquisitions plans, and basic ordering agreement orders.You will prepare a variety of official materials.
