The WTG Senior Engineer will provide technical WTG expertise across the Masdar portfolio of development, construction and operational offshore wind assets. The role may be that of a secondment to a project whereby the WTG Senior Engineer will be part of the WTG package on a Masdar portfolio project and will be responsible for managing the technical aspects of the Turbine Supply Agreement (TSA) Contact throughout the phases of the project. The role will be based in London and require frequent travel to supplier offices, manufacturing sites, and applicable site(s).
Responsibilities
WTG Technical Due Diligence
Develop procedures for conducting WTG Technical Due Diligence on WTGsConduct Technical Due Diligence on new WTG types and document the findings and recommendationsEmployer’s Technical Requirements
Develop Employer’s Technical Requirements as required to suit the specific projectDuring the project procurement phase, overall manage close out of any WTG supplier deviations to the Employer’s Technical Requirements and ensure the relevant technical expertise is consulted on the specific points of deviation to reach closure. Ensure any associated residual risks are implemented in the project risk registerEnsure lessons learnt from construction and operational projects are considered and the Employer’s Technical Requirements updated as necessaryWTG Procurement - Technical
Provide overall technical guidance to the WTG Package Manager during the procurement phase of the projectAssess and evaluate technically the WTG suppliers offers and identify scope gaps, omissions and risksReview and negotiate the WTG suppliers’ documents for proposed inclusion in the contract, ensuring alignment with the Employer’s Technical Requirements and general projectCo-ordinate the review and input from technical specialists and other project functionsWTG expertise to Masdar portfolio projects
Review and provide recommendations on proposed technical solutionsAssist with developing strategies to address main component failures and replacementsProvide guidance on main component failure rates to be assumed by projectsAssist the technical and Innovation team and wider departments with preparation of internal approval packsMaintain knowledge of latest WTG technical developments and provide guidance to projects on technical assumptionsTechnical Root Cause Analysis Assessment
Review and provide recommendations on received project and WTG supplier root cause analysisPerform or contribute towards completion of technical root cause analysis as requestedWTG Technical Project Management
Throughout the execution of the TSA contract, provide overall management of the WTG technical topics including:Exchange and management of Technical Queries (TQ’s)Ensuring received technical documentation or procedures is reviewed and commented upon as requiredEnsure effective co-ordination of the package interfaces and ensure technical deliverables required for the other project packages are provided according to the required schedule and quality/suitability checkedLead Design Risk Assessment sessions / processes and ensure any residual risks are capturedEnsure compliance with the Employer’s Technical Requirements and Contractor’s SpecificationsEnsure effective reporting as required to the WTG Package Manager, Project Director, Shareholders and other stakeholders as requiredProvide clear project Quality, Health, Safety and Environment leadershipOverall, support the WTG Package Manager in safe delivery of the project within budget, on time and in compliance with required quality standards. Preferred Qualifications
Degree or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy or related area.Preferred Experience
5 + years of experience in offshore wind projectsSolid demonstrable experience with the technical aspects of WTGs, failure rates and replacement of main componentsSolid demonstrable experience with managing contractors, interfaces and works from a technical perspectiveExperience with Information Management systemsJob-Specific Skills
