This post is for a Specialty Doctor in Anaesthetics. This is a whole time, permanent post offering an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated Anaesthetist to join a dynamic, rapidly expanding team delivering multidisciplinary acute care in Mersey and West Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.

Main duties of the job
The post holder will be expected to work with local managers and professional colleagues in the efficient running of the service.
Subject to the provisions of the terms and conditions of service he/she must observe agreed policies on clinical matters and should follow the standing orders and financial instructions of the Hospital.
The appointee will provide anaesthetic services for Mersey and West Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. The principle duties will be to provide anaesthetic services for emergency cover, on a full shift residential "On Call" rota involving general and obstetric duties within the Trust.
Previous Anaesthetic experience essential (previous experience in obstetric anaesthesia is desirable but not essential).
The obstetric anaesthetic duties will include anaesthetic services to the Delivery Suite including epidural analgesia and regional anaesthesia for caesarean sections. Applicants must be eligible for limited registration for non-training posts
Be expected to undertake his/her share of general anaesthetic duties according to the outline given above.
Provide clinical training for trainee staff and undergraduate students.
Be encouraged to contribute to the management of the Department with the objective of improving the service.
Be encouraged to use subspecialty anaesthetic interests of benefit to the trust and the trusts patients.

We provide the Mersey Regional Burns & Plastic Surgery Unit at Whiston Hospital and the Spinal Injuries Unit at Southport Hospital to more than 4 million people across the whole of Merseyside, West Lancashire, Cheshire, Isle of Man and North Wales.
