Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and highly motivated safeguarding professional to join Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board as Senior Nurse Safeguarding and Public Protection (Band 8a). This is a senior leadership role providing expert advice, guidance and operational oversight to support the Health Board in meeting its statutory responsibilities across the full safeguarding and public protection agenda.
The postholder will play a key role in leading and developing safeguarding services across children's safeguarding, adults at risk, looked after children, domestic abuse, MAPPA, MARAC, Prevent and wider public protection, while supporting high standards of governance, assurance, partnership working and continuous improvement. The role also includes day-to-day management of the Corporate Safeguarding Team, MASH and Children Looked After team, alongside delivery of training, audit, policy implementation and service development.
This is an excellent opportunity for a senior nurse with substantial safeguarding experience, strong multi-agency skills, and a commitment to high-quality, evidence-based practice. The successful candidate will be an effective leader, communicator and professional role model, able to work across organisational and partnership boundaries to strengthen safeguarding practice and improve outcomes for children and adults at risk.
Main duties of the job
To advise and support the Safeguarding agenda which is consistent with national, regional and local legislation, policies and best practice.
The post holder will support the team ensuring that the Health Board discharges its statutory obligations and responsibilities under all legislation for Safeguarding and Public Protection, including Social Services and Well-being (Wales) Act 2014; Mental Capacity Act 2005 and the Violence against Women, Domestic Abuse and Sexual Violence Act (Wales) 2016 ensuring that Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board (CTMUHB) has appropriate systems and policies in place for public protection, to include Child Protection, Looked After Children, Adults at Risk and Domestic Abuse, in addition to wider Public Protection remit including MAPPA, MARAC and Prevent.
To ensure effective arrangements in place for regular review, monitoring and continuous improvement to support the organisation in achieving high standards of Safeguarding practice.
To participate in staff training.
To provide line management of the Safeguarding Specialists and Administration Team within the Corporate Safeguarding Team.
Be responsible for the day to day management of the Health Board's Corporate Safeguarding Team, Multi-agency safeguarding Hub (MASH), and Children Looked After team (CLA).

Person Specification
Knowledge Essential
Expert knowledge of the Childrens Act 1989/2004, Social Services and Well-being (Wales) Act 2014, Wales Safeguarding procedures, 2019 and related statutory guidance and regulations
Desirable
Master's degree in relevant qualification specific to specialty.
Experience Essential
Relevant practical experience of working within the safeguarding children and adult's arena.
Desirable
Experience of working with partner agencies to safeguard children and adults.
