Join Ridgeway Secure Inpatient Services as a Registered Nurse.

Ridgeway Secure Inpatient Services is seeking diverse, dynamic, and enthusiastic Registered Nurses to join our dedicated team. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in supporting the recovery, rehabilitation, and empowerment of our service users.

At Ridgeway, we provide specialist care for adults with mental health disorders, learning disabilities, or autism who present behaviours that may pose risks to themselves or others. Our service delivers individualised and comprehensive care packages within both Medium and Low Secure inpatient settings, with strong links to High Secure services and the wider justice system.

Our purpose-built facility has been designed to meet the unique needs of our service users, offering:

Main duties of the job

Our vision is to provide a centre of excellence within secure inpatient care that is busy, rewarding, where you will get to practice a full range of psychiatric skills & interventions from assessment, treatment, and recovery.

You will have opportunities to develop professionally and to expand your professional portfolio through PDP and extensive training opportunities. The team will consist of a range of multi-disciplinary professions and will provide high quality care and treatment to patients with Mental Health and or a Learning Disability. Working with internal and external partners including working collaboratively and closely with prison colleagues, probation and existing services within Ridgeway Hospital.

You will need excellent communication skills and a teamwork ethos.

The position requires shift work, including occasional nights, on a rotational basis.

Main duties include:

Maintaining patients dignity, privacy and safety at all times. Assessing risk Adhering to mental capacity and mental health act. Recognising potential signs of harm and ensuring patients are safeguarded. Maintaining high professional standards. Delivering and planning evidenced based care in collaboration with the patient, families and wider MDT. Assessing patient need and delivering appropriate and timely interventions. Safe administration and storage of medicines.

Person Specification

Qualification Essential

Current professional registration with Nursing & Midwifery Council RNMH or RNLD To be recognised practice assessor / mentor or work towards in an agreed timescale Trained Clinical Supervisor (within 6 month probationary period) Evidence of Continuing Professional Development

Experience Essential

Working with people with mental ill health / learning disabilities Working in a person centred therapeutic organisation Working collaboratively with service users and their families/carers Working in a multi-disciplinary team Working in partnership with other agencies

Knowledge Essential

Evidence based knowledge of best practice in caring for patients in the designated field. Understanding of relevant legislation (e.g. Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act) Understanding of Safeguarding and its application in practice Clinical Risk Assessment and Management and its application in practice Clinical Governance and its application in practice Confident working knowledge of clinical medicines management, including administration of injections
