Job summary
As a Assoicate or Practice Nurse, you will be an integral part of our multidisciplinary team, delivering patient-centred care across a wide range of clinical areas. You will assess, plan and deliver care to the highest standards, supporting patients with both acute and long-term conditions while promoting health and wellbeing.
Main duties of the job
Deliver high-quality nursing care in line with practice protocols and national guidelines Wound care, suture removal. Immunisations and vaccinations, including antipsychotic depot injections,childhood, flu, shingles and travel vaccines Perform ECGs, spirometry and other diagnostic tests Cervical cytology and screening procedures Health checks Respond to medical emergencies including anaphylaxis and resuscitation Maintain safe storage, handling and stock control of vaccines and medications Support infection prevention and control standards Participate in occasional home visits where appropriate Cervical screening New patient and NHS health checks Child and adult immunisation programmes Maintain accurate, contemporaneous clinical records using the practice clinical system Actively participate in practice meetings and clinical audits Engage in continuous professional development and annual appraisals Contribute to the development of practice policies, protocols and services Registered Nurse (NMC) or Associate Nurse (FdSc) Experience in primary care or community nursing (desirable but not essential) Competence in vaccinations, including travel immunisations Strong IT skills essential, including confident use of clinical systems Excellent communication and teamwork skills Commitment to high standards of patient care and confidentiality

Key Responsibilities
Treatment Room & Clinical Duties
Deliver high-quality nursing care in line with practice protocols and national guidelines Wound care, suture removal, venepuncture and management of minor injuries Administration of medications, including antipsychotic depot injections Immunisations and vaccinations, including childhood, flu, shingles and travel vaccines Perform ECGs, spirometry and other diagnostic tests Cervical cytology and screening procedures Health checks including BP, BMI, and cardiovascular risk assessments Respond to medical emergencies including anaphylaxis and resuscitation Maintain safe storage, handling and stock control of vaccines and medications Support infection prevention and control standards Chaperone and assist clinicians where required Participate in occasional home visits where appropriate
Chronic Disease Management
Support the management of long-term conditions including: Asthma & COPD Diabetes and pre-diabetes Coronary Heart Disease Mental Health conditions Run and support disease-specific clinics Contribute to QOF targets and patient recall systems
Health Promotion & Screening
Deliver proactive and opportunistic health promotion, including: Smoking cessation Weight management Alcohol and substance misuse Support screening programmes: Cervical screening New patient and NHS health checks Child and adult immunisation programmes
Professional & Administrative Duties
Maintain accurate, contemporaneous clinical records using the practice clinical system Actively participate in practice meetings and clinical audits Engage in continuous professional development and annual appraisals Contribute to the development of practice policies, protocols and services
Essential Requirements
Registered Nurse (NMC) Experience in primary care or community nursing (desirable but not essential) Strong clinical skills across treatment room and chronic disease management Competence in vaccinations, including travel immunisations Experience administering antipsychotic injections and performing ECGs (or willingness to train) Strong IT skills essential, including confident use of clinical systems Excellent communication and teamwork skills Commitment to high standards of patient care and confidentiality
