Main duties of the job
We are recruiting an Advanced Public Health Practitioner role within the Tobacco and Smoking Cessation team, part of the Living and Working Well team. You will play a key role in forging partnerships with and influencing key stakeholders and will support public health Leads to develop, and hold, the overview of implementation, monitoring and quality of key public health programmes. You will work with partners to ensure the programmes are aligned with the broader context and are visible as well as tailored to reduce health inequalities and improve health and wellbeing.
As an Advanced Public Health Practitioner for the Smoking Cessation programme you will be the lead specialist for implementation, monitoring and quality of the smoking cessation programme. Providing oversight of smoking cessation programme planning, delivery and performance, ensuring the programme is delivered to time and budget and achieving the required outcomes.
The role will include budget management, staff recruitment and management (both line management and matrix work/task management).

Applying professional project and programme management skills to analyse and make judgements based on principles to address complex issues.
Effective people management skills, including performance management skills and the ability to provide direction and support to individuals and teams.
Masters degree or equivalent post graduate qualification in Public Health or related subject or experience.
Experience of working and leading programmes within a multi-agency environment and developing and delivering business improvements.

Qualifications Essential
Masters degree or equivalent post graduate qualification in Public Health or related subject or experience, demonstrating that level of applied public health technical knowledge in researching, analysing and evaluating arguments and information.
Desirable
UKPHR Registered Practitioner - Desirable
Experience Essential
Experience of working within a Public Health, Healthcare or other relevant setting. Experience of working and leading programmes within a multi-agency environment and developing and delivering business improvements, preferably within a performance management framework.
