We are delighted to be able to offer an opportunity for a highly motivated, ambitious individual to join our well integrated team. Newcastle is one of just two centres in the UK to have a theme dedicated to skin research within a NIHR Biomedical Research Centre (BRC)(https://www.newcastlebrc.nihr.ac.uk/skin-oral-disease/
Applications are invited for this one-year post, which provides education and support to develop a specialist area of interest in clinical dermatology and to extend research experience. The post will provide training and experience in the management of a range of inflammatory skin conditions, opportunities to contribute clinical research and medical student teaching. Working with the Clinical Dermatology and NIHR BRC research teams, you will support the running of clinical trials, other research studies and registries within the department.
Main duties of the job
To provide general dermatology clinics and support for dermatology research.
This post may be well suited to those wishing to apply to specialist training in Dermatology. You must be registered with the GMC, and have MBBS / MBChB or equivalent. This post is suitable for candidates who have completed IMT.

Job description Job responsibilities
Managerial:
They will participate in all aspects of Clinical Governance, making a significant contribution to multidisciplinary audit and risk management activities. The post-holder is expected to attend the weekly journal club, histopathology and clinical meetings held for patient care and CPD.
Administrative:
The appointee will be required to undertake administrative duties in relation to the care of his/her patients and in relation to the running of services in conjunction with the Specialty Manager and Clinical Director within a context of compliance with Directorate aims and objectives.

Education and Qualifications Essential
Primary Medical Qualification. Full GMC registration.
Desirable
MRCP or equivalent Presentations / publications
Clinical Skills and Knowledge Essential
Evidence of achievement of foundation / core / specialty training competencies.
Desirable
Evidence of experience in the specialty. Experience of research. Practical skills - basic surgery.
Management and Administration Experience Essential
An understanding of audit and clinical governance.
Desirable
Evidence of leadership / project management. Evidence of having implemented change. Experience in developing and implementing new technologies.
Teaching Essential
Experience of supervising junior medical staff. Experience of participation in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching. Ability to teach clinical / technical / practical skills.
Desirable
Attendance at courses to develop teaching skills. Postgraduate qualification in medical education.
Audit and Research Essential
Evidence of involvement in and understanding of research methodology and publication of findings. Research/critical review of literature. Publications in the last five years. Evidence of participation in audit. Evidence of having changed practice as a result of audit.
Desirable
Higher degree. Evidence of having revisited the audit to assess improvement.
