Job summary

Casual Registered Nurses (Adult)

Based at the Cumberland Infirmary, Carlisle and/or West Cumberland Hospital, Whitehaven, you will be required to assess, plan, deliver and evaluate nursing care, operating as a member of the ward multidisciplinary team. You will also contribute as requested by the Ward Manager to the smooth running of the unit and possess relevant skills to work in different nursing disciplines.

Main duties of the job

Applications are invited from Registered Nurses with active registration, or students who are due to qualify soon. You will have experience of work in a caring environment and be able to deal with a continually changing workload.

Please note salary is dependant on previous NHS experience. An additional 12% is paid on top of any bank hours worked in WTD pay.

Experience Essential

Work in a caring environment. Able to deal with a continually changing workload.

Desirable

Relevant nursing duties. Teaching / mentoring. NHS employment

Qualifications Essential

Registered Nurse with active registration.

Desirable

NST 307 or equivalent. Further relevant postgraduate development or equivalent.

Knowledge Essential

Continuing professional development with portfolio. NMC code of conduct.

Desirable

Clinical governance. Nursing strategy. Nursing policies and procedures.

Skills & Aptitudes Essential

Well developed communication and interpersonal skills. Interpreting baseline observations. Able to use initiative appropriately. Able to work within a team without close supervision. Organisational skills. Ability to demonstrate the compassionate values and behaviours needed for dignified care.

Desirable

Extended clinical skills e.g. venepuncture, ECG interpretation. Problem solving skills. Leadership skills. IT skills.
