We are looking to recruit a salaried GP for 6 - 8 sessions to join our progressive and innovative practice. We have a national patient satisfaction score in the top 2% of the country. This is a rare and exciting opportunity to work with our dynamic and friendly team.
The post holder will perform the normal duties of a GP; delivering an excellent standard of clinical care, sharing best practice, providing peer support and maintaining a positive, collaborative working relationship with the multidisciplinary team.

Main Duties and Responsibilities
Clinical Responsibilities
Provide a full range of medical services as defined in the core GMS contract and additional enhanced services where appropriate
In accordance with the Practice timetable, the post-holder will make him/her-self available to undertake a variety of duties including surgery consultations, telephone consultations and queries, occasionally visiting patients at home and in care homes, checking and signing repeat prescriptions and dealing with queries, paperwork and correspondence in a timely fashion
To record clear and contemporaneous computer based consultation notes to agreed standards using EMIS web
In consultation with patients and in line with current Practice disease management protocols, developing care plans for health
Recording clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards using clinical templates where necessary or appropriate
Prescribing in accordance with the Practice prescribing formulary (OCCG) (or generically) whenever this is clinically appropriate
In general the post-holder will be expected to undertake all the normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care.
Other Responsibilities within the Organisation
Awareness of and compliance with all relevant Practice policies/guidelines, e.g. prescribing, confidentiality, data protection, health and safety.

The Wychwood Surgery is a friendly, dispensing rural practice with a very high patient satisfaction level. It is set in the Cotswolds and we serve a population of 6213 patients. The practice is a vital link in the community and we are very much part of all the pleasures and challenges of village life. The practice is also a GP training practice with 2 GP trainers.
There are 2 GP Partners and 2 salaried GPs, within the premises is a dispensary and community pharmacy. Our highly skilled primary health care, management, admin and dispensary/pharmacy teams work diligently together to provide a holistic service for our patients.

JOB TITLE: Salaried GP
RESPONSIBLE TO: GP Partners
JOB PURPOSE: This post requires the holder to have an excellent understanding of and identification with the ethos of the Practice and to demonstrate this in their professional behaviour and their dealings with the public. The post holder is directly responsible to the Practice Manager for all organisational and administrative issues and the Partners for all clinical issues.
The post-holder will provide personal medical services, managing a caseload and deal with a wide range of health needs in a primary care setting, ensuring the highest standards of care for all registered and temporary patients.

HOURS: To cover 6-8 sessions per week by agreement plus 2 hours on Saturday morning once a month to cover enhanced access.

In consultation with patients and in line with current Practice disease management protocols, developing care plans for health
Providing counselling and health education
Admitting or discharging patients to and from the caseload and referring to other care providers as appropriate
Recording clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards using clinical templates where necessary or appropriate
Collecting data for audit purposes
Compiling and issuing computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions (avoiding hand-written prescriptions whenever possible)
Prescribing in accordance with the Practice prescribing formulary (OCCG) (or generically) whenever this is clinically appropriate
In general the post-holder will be expected to undertake all the normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care.

Health and Safety
The post-holder will implement and lead on a full range of promotion and management their own and others health and safety and infection control as defined in the practice Health & Safety Policy and the practice Infection Control policy and published procedures. This will include (but will not be limited to):
Using personal security systems within the workplace according to Practice guidelines
Awareness of national standards of infection control and cleanliness and regulatory / contractual / professional requirements, and good practice guidelines
Providing advice on the correct and safe management of the specimens process including collection, labelling, handling, use of correct and clean containers, storage and transport arrangements
Correct personal use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and ensuring correct use of PPE by others, advising on appropriate circumstances for use by clinicians, staff and patients.
Management of the full range of infection control procedures in both routine and extraordinary circumstances (e.g. pandemic or individual infectious circumstances)
Hand hygiene standards for self and others
Managing directly all incidents of accidental exposure
Active observation of current working practices across the practice in relation to infection control, cleanliness and related activities, ensuring that procedures are followed and weaknesses / training needs are identified, escalating issues as appropriate to the responsible person
