Job summary
We are seeking a Registered Adult Nurse to join our innovative and enthusiastic team on a permanent basis at our Chichester campus. This role will contribute to the development of nursing skills, supporting simulated learning practice and academic modules as required. Lecturers will teach as a member of the teaching team in a developing capacity within an established programme of study and/or across developing areas, with the assistance of a mentor and/or senior colleague if required. The role will involve teaching, quality assurance compliance, partnership working, student support, as well as engaging in the curriculum planning, design and leadership of teaching and with some research activity across all courses.
Main duties of the job
You will have the knowledge, experience and skills to enable contemporary contribution to all pre-registration curricula including the Nursing Associate and Registered Nurse programmes. You will need to be an NMC registrant in good standing as a Registered Adult Nurse, have demonstrable contemporary clinical knowledge required for Nursing Adults in a range of care settings, a HE teaching qualification (Associate Fellow or Fellow) OR willingness to undertake the Postgraduate Certificate in Learning and Teaching in Higher Education/Academic Professional within an agreed timeframe together and demonstrable evidence of delivering teaching, learning and assessment.
The successful candidate will need to be motivated, proactive and engage with collaborative working both as a team and with wider partners. Function of the Post:
The Lecturer in Adult Nursing will contribute to the delivery and ongoing development of high-quality nursing education across pre-registration programmes, with a particular emphasis on integrating UK-based contemporary nursing practice into teaching, simulation, and work-related learning.
The post holder will utilise their experience of nursing practice within the UK healthcare context, including knowledge of NHS systems, regulatory frameworks, and patient care standards, to ensure that teaching is current, relevant, and aligned with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) standards and Future Nurse agenda.
Principal Accountabilities:As a Lecturer in the department of School of Nursing and Allied Health, the working year will be divided between teaching, teaching-related administration, assessment and research in such proportions as may be decided by the Head of School/Executive Dean, after appropriate consultation, in accordance with the guidelines set out in the Terms and Conditions of Employment for Academic staff.
Learning and Teaching
Be responsible for the delivery of teaching material - deliver either across a range of modules within a subject area as well as other developing areas within the department.Contribute to curriculum development in the context of pre-registration NursingDesign teaching materials and delivery across allocated modules across the Nursing programmes.Deliver lectures and/or seminar groups using appropriate teaching methods, helping to identify areas where current provision needs revision or improvementTransfer knowledge in the form of practical skills, methods and techniques.Support and liaise with clinical practice partners in supporting student work-related learningBecoming an Academic Assessor in line with the NMC standards.Transfer knowledge in the form of practical skills, methods and techniques and engage with the Simulated Based Education developments.Engage in supporting student learning in the work environmentAssist with the development of the design and delivery of modules and assessment methods, working closely with colleagues on the implementation of assessment procedures, participating in the examination/assessment process.Set, mark and assess work and examinations and provide effective and timely feedback to students.Assist with the supervision of students projects, fieldwork and placements.Use time outside of teaching hours to prepare well-constructed, varied teaching sessions, ensuring that content, methods of delivery and learning materials will meet the defined learning outcomes.Seek ways of improving performance by reflecting on teaching design and delivery and obtaining and analysing feedback.Provide timely, constructive, formative and comprehensive feedback to students using all forms of communication/media.Embrace the importance and value of engaging in the task of education and learning together with students at all academic levels to ensure an outstanding learning experience.Work in partnership with students to enable them to become independent learners and researchersDeliver high quality, effective and interactive teaching using a range of methods including face to face, blended and remote delivery if necessary.

Person Specification
Qualifications Essential
A Bachelors degree (Honours) in Nursing or a related discipline (2:1 or above, or equivalent experience). Current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) as an Adult Nurse, with good standing on the register. A recognised Higher Education teaching qualification (or willingness to work towards one).
Desirable
Masters level qualification in related subject to Nursing/Education/Health (or working towards) Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
Experience Essential
Demonstrable experience of contemporary nursing practice within the UK, including knowledge of NHS systems, patient pathways, and regulatory frameworks (ideally minimum of 2 years) Sound understanding of the NMC (2018) Future Nurse standards, including their application to curriculum design, delivery, and assessment. Evidence of delivering effective, inclusive, and practice-relevant teaching, including simulation-based and skills-based learning.
