Whipps Cross University Hospital, part of the Barts Health NHS Trust Group, is looking for a motivated Trust Grade ST1-2 (or equivalent level) in Acute Medicine on a 1-year fixed term contract.

This role provides an exciting opportunity to gain clinical experience in Acute Medicine working in the busy and varied the Acute Assessment Unit and Same Day Emergency

Main duties of the job

This role provides an exciting opportunity to gain clinical experience in Acute Medicine working in the busy and varied the Acute Assessment Unit and Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC). The post involves evening and weekend work on the SDEC out-of-hours rota.

Participation in quality improvement is an expectation of the role, and there are opportunities to participate in active research activities in the department. A large number of ST1-2 Trust doctors have been successful in securing NTN training posts due to the extensive experience gained in this post.

The successful candidates will have full GMC registration with licence to practice and will have completed Foundation competencies (or equivalent).

Person Specification

Qualifications and Knowledge Essential

Must hold MBChB, MBBS or equivalent degree Must hold full GMC Registration with license to practice Current ALS certification

Desirable

MRCP Part 1

Experience Essential

Must have clinical experience at completion of FY2 level (or equivalent) Must have previous NHS experience Must have general internal medicine (GIM), acute medicine and/or Ambulatory Care/SDEC experience Evidence of a commitment to life-long learning / continuing professional development (CPD) Evidence of participation in clinical audit and/or quality improvement

Desirable

Experience teaching medical and/or nursing colleagues Evidence of participation in research projects

Skills Essential

Evidence of effective written communication skills in English.

Other Desirable

Experience working under pressure Demonstrates problem solving skills
