We are looking for Maternity care assistants to join our Antenatal Clinic and Community teams at PAH.
Our maternity care assistants (MCA) works as part of the wider multidisciplinary team carrying out a range of tasks that focus on housekeeping, administration and the personal care of mothers, birthing people and babies.
We are looking for MCAs that will put women and their families first and deliver a safe quality service, ensuring The Princess Alexandra Hospital NHS Trust is the preferred place of birth as well as the preferred place of employment.

Main duties of the job Maternity Care Assistants work alongside registered practitioners and other members of the maternity care team who provide direct delivery of care to women, birthing people and their families.
You will undertake care tasks, as part of routine care for women, birthing people and their babies, and for which they have been appropriately trained and under the direction of the midwife. Assisting with assessments of health care needs, undertaking roles and responsibilities that have been delegated by the registered midwife.
This role is to work within one of our community teams or Antenatal clinic, You will need to gain a general understanding of the Maternity services so that you can assist in times of high acuity or sickness.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The band 3 Maternity Support Worker (MSW) provide direct delivery of clinical care to all women, birthing people and babies accessing maternity services and may be based within specialist and integrated teams such as postnatal/transitional care and community, under the supervision of the registered midwife.
The MSW’s work as part of the wider multidisciplinary team carrying out a range of tasks. They will support a friendly, nurturing and welcoming environment for service users, and their families. Within all areas they will contribute to the provision of holistic and personalised care and will support the mother, birthing person and their family in making informed choices around their care.
The MSW works to promote individualised care, specific to the needs of the woman, birthing person and their family, acting as an advocate within the multidisciplinary team in the absence of the midwife.
The MSW whilst working under the supervision of the designated midwife and part of a multidisciplinary team, undertakes the direct care and appropriate interventions to maximise a positive client experience and promote the physical and mental health and wellbeing of the woman, birthing person and baby

Qualifications Essential
GCSE English and Math or equivalent NVQ level 2 or equivalent experience
Desirable
Completed care certificate Skills passport
Experience Essential
Clinical experience working within health or social care settings
